Don’t want anyone to miss Waking Mars, so thought I would repeat on this thread that it’s discounted down to $3 at the moment.

And through that blog, I ran across the kickstarter for this Battle of the Bulge game, which I immediately pledged (my 2nd kickstarter, after Double Fine Adventure).
Of course you can’t tell exactly what kind of game this is going to be from the kickstarter page, but it definitely looks like exactly the kind of game I want to play on the iPad (i.e. a real board-wargame without the overbearing ludicrous complexity of a Grigsby joint, with a nice UI).

Backed. Looks like it could potentially be great.
Also that Pocket Tactics blog looks great. Thanks for the link Tony M. I just bookmarked it.
I also just purchased Rebuild the post-apocalyptic city builder they have listed as the best iOS city builder. I might also have to try out Tactical Soldier. I’ve never heard of either of these games, but Rebuild in particular has a very high rating with what (I think/hope) is too many votes to represent ballot stuffing.
I’d be curious to see how/whether Rebuild improves on the free Flash version, which was fun once but fairly shallow.
It’s got some features that allow for replayability: there are certain choices you can make throughout the game that drastically change the end-game, and the end-game is actually quite different depending on what choices you make. If it helps, the endings are far more distinct than what we saw in ME3, plus there’s actually different art.
Feels more substantial than the flash game. I was glad (relieved?) that I hadn’t wasted my money.
Interesting. The designers are some extremely well known folks in wargame circles. Definitely worth $10.

The iPad version is based on the flash sequel (Rebuild 2), which has some improvements. It’s a good game, but I found it still gets a bit too samey. Once you expand a little you have access to all the different building types - would be better if that didn’t happen (with smaller cities or way more types).
The great thing about Rebuild is that the higher level difficulties are really, really tough. That enhanced the replay value for me like crazy.
So since I love Ascension so much I tried Nightfall last night. On paper it seems like it should be great (ascension/dominion-like with a draft phase before you start), but even after a few games I’m still finding it very hard to know which cards to go for. Anyone else playing it?

Oh, now this is fun! Reminds me of the old Empire game (in spirit).
Yep, although some of us have regular iPhones and therefore feel unwelcome in you guys hi-falutin’ iPad thread.
It is indeed a weird design, gambrinous, and I’m not convinced it’s good. But I am a bit fascinated by how it unfolds and I’m always up for another game as I fumble around with it. Add tomwchick on Gamecenter and send me a challenge!

Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land is on sale for 2.99. Now I just wish Elder Sign: Omens would go on sale. If Steam has made me a cheapass gamer, the app store has turned me into an absolute miser.
Spellsword is pretty awesome (and on iPhones, Tom!). I think someone mentioned it before it came out and I responded with skepticism toward any game with on-screen buttons (or maybe it was some other game, but I would’ve said the same thing about Spellsword if you just told me about it), but the artwork was enough to get me to buy it, and I’m glad I did. Lots of fun, and a good sense of humor too. Perfect for killing a few minutes in the break room at work.
Then why aren’t we talking about it in a thread that isn’t racist against iPhone owners?!!!?? Is there a “I hate this thread so much” gif? Preferably with a grumpy looking cat.
