iPhone 8 battery options?

My iPhone 8 does everything I want it to. I wouldn’t mind more storage but I can live with what I’ve got. However, the battery is just trash - it drops so fast I can barely be without a charger.

Are there any options other than upgrading the phone?

You could definitely get the battery replaced. You could take it to a well-reviewed local shop and get it done for about $100. I use a regional chain called Batteries & Bulbs for this. Bright and conscientious employees.

If you’re comfortable, iFixIt sells a $30 kit and provides detailed DIY instructions on their site: iPhone 8 Battery - iFixit

You could also replace the phone with another iPhone 8 or an SE 2 (same body.) It looks like you could get a refurb for about $150-200 depending on where you like to shop.

Get the battery replaced and/or run an automation shortcut to turn on low battery mode as soon as you unplug from the charger.

Apple does it for like $99. Do it first party.

iPhone 8’s also have that proprietary battery case you can get.

Battery cases just drain the battery’s lifespan faster. Mophie ones are higher capacity than the first party one, with that said.

It’s $49 to have Apple replace an iPhone 8 battery.

Oh, nice. Do that for sure, then, assuming you’re close enough to one.

$49 to have Apple do it sounds like a no brainer. Thanks!
