There’s nothing wrong with Facebook Connect as a matchmaking option, using it as the only matchmaking option, however, is fail.
Pirde and Predjudice and Zombies is fun!! It’s weird and awesome. You play as Elizabeth, start at the Meryton Ball, and overhear some nasty comments about yourself. Then zombies attac, and a shaolin monk appears to you and instructs you kill the zombies with the secret sword techniques he has taught you. Tap the screen to swipe your sword, swipe in any of 8 directions to use 8 different special attacks (these consume a mana bar that regens over time). If zombies touch you, you lose health, if your health runs out, you die.
It handles well and seems like a lot of fun. It’s cheap too, $4 on the Australian iTunes. 58 MB download, no idea how long it will be. Nice graphics, it stylised much like the novel of the same name.
Edit: Sweet, you get to upgrade skills (of your choice) between levels with the money you pick up during the levels.

so… how does Carcassonne feel/play? I want to get it, but feel as if the single player against the AI won’t be that exciting, and not having a constant wifi connection for my ipod touch while at work will severely impact playing long running games.
Any feedback from those that have given it a try?
It’s fantastic, actually. One of the most polished iPhone games and probably the best Carcassonne port I’ve seen. Haven’t played multiplayer extensively yet, though.
The release of Super Quickhook, a sequel (kind of) to the superb Hook Champ is imminent.

carcasonne is out? time to delete all of my other aps as extraneous
There’s a significant random element in Carcassonne and it’s relatively easy to evaluate a good move from a bad so I would imagine the AI would be pretty decent.

How do you guys feel about the “see what tiles are left” button in the iPhone Carcassonne? Seems almost like cheating to me…

i personally don’t like it.
this solitaire game is really, really awesome though.
i tried two opposed internet games and both times my opponents quit.

In the XBox game, at the expert level the computer knew what tiles were left. This makes it a lot less random and since my knowledge of the tiles wasn’t as great, it beat me most of the time. Since players who play Carcassone a lot also know what tiles are left, I don’t think it’s cheating.
I’m in…as soon as I get you folks on my facebook account.

Really liking Carcassonne. It’s extremely well done, although going to the settings menu to flip between games is a little weird. Solitaire mode is fairly difficult, but I like it. I have 5 internet games going on right now. Great stuff.
68 sales in ~18 hours, all five-star ratings. That’s pretty good for an iPhone game, right?
There’s a difference between mentally tracking what has come and gone and being told explicitly what’s left. One has a high chance for error and requires focus on the part of the player, the other does not. I suppose it’s not technically cheating if everyone can do it but it sure seems like it spoils an aspect of the game. I would certainly think of it as a cheat. Does it work in multi player or is it a single player only feature?

This version is ok, but I like the XBLA version a lot better. For one thing, you can change the scoring. There have been a number of discussions about how to score farmers/cities and some play that the two hex city should only be worth 2 points instead of 4 (I do this on the XBLA version), but this version doesn’t offer any game play options. Hopefully they’ll offer the options later.
Carc is great - I want to sign up for some multiplayer games but I have no friends (who are cool enough to do iphone gaming regularly). Can someone sign me up? peter (aaat) tinypirate (Dawt) com and get me in?

It looks interesting, but for $5 I kinda wish there was a lite version.
Honestly, these days I’m only really interested in spending more than a couple bucks for iPad games – iPhone-only stuff I don’t really want to spend more than $3 on.
I fully accept that this makes me Part Of The Problem with the app store market.
