Football Manager 2010 now has a lite version, which is ideal for me with my upcoming holiday. Given the relatively high price (NZD$16!), I’m surprised it’s taken them this long.

Beat Wolfenstein RPG today. It wasn’t too shabby. It’s decently long, simplified to the point that it works great on the iPhone, and a nice way to revisit some old PC memories. Thanks for the tips on the end boss; beat him on the first try!

The only downside, in my opinion, is the lack of subtitles during the cutscenes.

Fruit Ninja question! Is the critical hit that I sometimes get just a random joke, or do you actually have to hit the fruit in a certain way?

Warblade question! How do you fire missiles? Or does the missile icon not indicate that you have a missile?

Fruit Sensei say, critical hits random like spin of thrown banana.

It’s alright.

The story is enjoyable cheesy and the game itself is fun in spurts, but it does get repetitive. You’re basically just hitting zombies with the ball until the stage ends. There is some variation in game play and zombie type, but ultimately, you’re doing pretty much the same thing.

I’ve never got a missile yet, but I checked this a while back - you start with zero missiles and you can’t fire without any, obviously, but getting them is only possible either by buying them in the store or - apparently - through some super sekrit thingy that I haven’t figured out yet. Presumably the number of missiles you have will eventually appear alongside that missile icon. I’m guessing they come in very useful for the later bosses.

Uh, oh yeah… and to answer the question you’re supposed to tap the upper half of the screen to fire a missile. Tapping the lower half does something else entirely, but I don’t know what.

Thanks, guys! I wish there was a way to show those tutorial messages again that appear when you first start Warblade, there’s a ton of them and I quickly forgot most of what they said. I think I’ve figured out most of the game by now, though.

Slay is crack, and I don’t know if I can in good conscious recommend it. I’ve launched it to play for a couple of minutes and lost hours.

Attention: the space shooter/trader Ultraviolet Dawn is free for a day!

Thanks! Played for maybe 10 minutes so far, but I’m liking it, even though it could use a tad bit of refinement. For example, if you select a mission, switch to another screen, then need to review your mission, you need to scroll through all of the other missions again until you find yours, which is kinda annoying.

Also fresh in the App store: Xenome Episode 1 a Postapocalyptic RPG. Cannot check it out right now as I am at work and do not have Wifi/Boradband. Looks interesting liek Fallout on the phone. Requires a 3Gs minimum though.

Thanks I’ll give it a shot.

I wish the lite version had some challenging maps because I downloaded it and it just seems kind of boring and repetitive. There’s one mechanic and that’s the entire game?

Gave it a shot. It’s interesting. Plays more like an MMO then Fallout (Fallout 3 I might add I was expecting it to be a turn based RPG). If you like loot collecting and “kill 5 of these things” mission types then its worth a fiver.

Sorry, should have mentioned I mean FO3.

The MMO like mechanics are no surprise. The plan seems to be to have episode 1+2 as singleplayer and Episode 3 be an MMO in the same world. Propably the SP releases are fundraisers and testballons for the later MMO

Ultraviolet Dawn is free today.

Ultraviolet Dawn is described as a hybrid space-shooter/trading game which puts the player into an open Universe with over a thousand stars to explore. The entire map is generated when you start the game and it’s up to you to trade, fight, upgrade, or follow missions. The game is controlled via dual stick controls.

I put about an hour into the game and it is actually pretty interesting. I think it needs a little tweaking but its a great little game as it is.

The harder stages are more interesting, and you have to strategize more about whether to attack or defend, or to upgrape troops now or try to grab land with your peasants.

That said, it’s still a pretty simple game, I think it may just be right up my alley. Base building is what I like to do, I play RTSs as if they were base design and construction simulators.

Build-a-lot is free today.

I bought Build-a-lot 1-4 on a crazy Steam sale over the holidays, and lost many many hours to it. It’s a well-done time management casual game. I’m not sure how the iPhone port stacks up, but I assume it’s well worth trying for free if it’s anywhere close to the PC versions.

Looks like Audiosurf is possible now.
