krayzkrok, do not rest easy:)

That game took forever and that 597th level was just too much after I lost my armor. And after all that, I’ve only unlocked about half the secrets. Really great game and well worth $2.99. A big thank you to all those that recommended it!
Basically, if you don’t have an iPhone 4, though it does mix up styles a bit with things like multiple pins. If you do, though, it should be an instant buy for the amazing visuals and much improved gyroscope controls.

Castlevania: Encore of the Night is out.
It’s Puzzle Fighter meets Puzzle Quest meets Castlevania.
I seems really damn good from what I’ve played so far.
Finished Helsing’s Fire. Really a great little puzzle game, except for the second & third boss that turn a good puzzle game into a lame action game. Why do game developers do this?
Really? I thought all three bosses were trivially easy to defeat - and I’m not saying that to boast, I just thought they were a simple matter of timing. Certainly much simpler than the tougher puzzles that start to appear towards the end of the game (on normal difficulty). I’m replaying again on Hard now, and yes - it’s much harder!
[edit] Sorry, I may have misinterpreted what you were saying - you aren’t necessarily saying it’s hard, just that it’s jarring, right? I can’t say I was really bothered about that, although they were certainly a bit anticlimactic.

That was not at all my experience. The concept was simple to understand, but I had huge trouble evading the projectiles while simultaneously shining light on the boss and hitting the proper tonic button when he was colored and didn’t hide. The timing was way too narrow, unlike the rest of the game where timing was either irrelevant or very generous, and the control scheme didn’t work well either with one-handed or two-handed control. With one hand I’d leave the torch as a sitting duck while hunting for a tonic button, and with two hands I had to memorize tonic button placements because the torch hand would obscure the button row.
I bet you were really, really annoyed to find out you had come so far to have fallen so close. ;) You blew my meteorstorm best away, though. I still haven’t managed to get a meteorstorm while I had a multiplier active.
Keeping everything maxed out is what Warblade is all about. If you lose armour, or your best weapon, you need to hope you’re close enough to a shop stage to buy them back. Suddenly, Memorystation / Meteorstorm drops are like platinum!
I did have to change the way I held the phone for those three fights, though. It’s hard to flick from the torch to the tonic using just one finger, so I had to hover over the tonics with one finger and control the torch with the other. Maybe I just fluked it, but I didn’t have much trouble there. Perhaps they could have done something a little more inventive for the boss fights though, I agree.

i picked this up too
puzzle fighter with loot in a metroidvania
mmmmmmmmmmm, delicious.
the only thing i don’t like is how slow the menus can be. like i’ll touch something, then it will pause a second THEN go
I have to admit, when it ended, it was really fast and quite a shock. I went from thinking I could keep this game going forever…to dead and restarting before it had a chance to really set in. Once you’ve got the seed money to keep armor and war plasma up all the time, the real trick comes in the last 10 levels. Some of those waves can only really be killed by a fully upgraded gun and losing it means losing the game.
I’ve got a new game running now…so we’ll see how long 1.1billion stays the high score;)

RebelFM podcast revealed this little gem that slipped under my radar, another free roguelike, Powder.

If you’re into Lunar Lander type games give Propaganda Lander a shot. It’s got a great style and presentation, though I’m finding it’s a bit harder than I somehow expected.

Played a bit with Powder, I recommend using the tutorial to get your bearings even if you are familiar with roguelikes, you can move anything on the interface however you please (both landscape and portrait) and most actions can be accessed easily with the A button. Now I just need Elona and I can stop playing new iphone games.

Are any of you ‘playing’ Godville? I can’t figure out what talking to your hero is supposed to do, if it does anything at all. Maybe I just don’t know the right expectations of words and syntax, but it’s annoying.

Yeah GodVille is clearly Russian translated to English with … varying … levels of success.
Godville is just progressquest with an added encourage/punish mechanic.

Just picked up Chopper 2 - incredible looking, well produced action game. Really looks awesome in HD on the iPhone 4. I never played the original, but liking this one a lot.
I know some people were interested in “Ancient Frog”.
The price dropped today from $4.99 to $0.99.
I bought it based on the free edition since this is really a stand-out game and different to everything else I saw so far.
For some small overview (just get the LE version to try yourself free):
