One of many unintuitive things about the app store. I know way more than I ever wanted to about the ins-and-outs of app store sales, and it’s frequently a complete mystery.

I didn’t so much mean literally an ad (although I guess I did say that parenthetically), so much as getting people thinking Civilization in preparation for the big release.

Helsing’s Fire gets a new victory animation!

10 million points? You should be able to get that with one meteor storm. ;) If you do a perfect storm with a x2 or a x5, expect to get up to 50 million. So a billion points should arrive faster than you might think, although if it starts getting a bit much pause the game and quit - it saves the game state for later.

Can anyone comment how the iPhone port of Osmos is? I loved the PC version.

My point was that I have more fun when I am playing with just the puny basic weapons than I do while blasting through everything with a maxed-out ship. I guess I’m just not motivated by the mindless pursuit of really big numbers :) (which probably also explains why I’m not registered to post any high scores online)

Ouch! Mindless pursuit, eh? Them’s fighting words. The gameplay when you’re a puny ship with a pea shooter is certainly more challenging in terms of immediate survival, but when you’re a maxed out powerhouse the gameplay emphasis changes to being clever in how you maximise your score. I’d hardly call it mindless, in fact it takes a lot more concentration and fast decision making to make the best of your score.

Never played the PC version but it seems alright. You tap around your blob to make it go places etc.

I agree with krayzkrok. While the early levels are quick and easy with the maxed out ship (nothing is easy about the last 5-10 levels) you need to focus on not only picking up the *5 when it is available, but also avoiding most of the other drops while taking out the enemy ships. Very rapidly about half of the bonuses become a liability, as you try and prepare for the later levels. There is also the drive to keep chaining the bonus levels in order to stay at the 10million level. They really did put alot of thought into how to make the game challenging even with a maxed out ship (rainbow rank, high % accuracy, working to get missles…). I also know you get a huge bonus if you manage a meteor swarm with the drunk powerup. I still haven’t managed that or the rainbow rank.

Obviously this isn’t going to be for everyone, but it does fill my old school arcade need really well. Between this and uniwar, I almost don’t need another app on the phone. Almost;)

Of course, wouldn’t you know it, when I’m ready to take the #1 spot in QT3 and dethrone krayzkrok, Diego went and did it already. Now I’m at 1.5 billion and need to suddenly get over 2. At least there is something to shoot for.

Never played any other version but it’s beautiful and fantastic on iPhone 4.

Is there a list posted somewhere of qt3’ers playing Warblade?

I don’t know if there is a list, but if you go back a page or two in this thread, there are a bunch of screen shots (high score lists on openfient) and smack talk back and forth about the game. That’s a good place to start. Everyone was open to me adding them as friends. My openfient name is jaygittings (original, I know).

Add “corvid” to your friends, and you’ll need more than that. :)

This makes my third game in a row ended due to a bug. Came back to the game, and found that I was just stuck in space with no enemies to shoot. At least I was able to end the game from the menu to record my final score.

That sounds like the “you paused while there were no enemies on screen” bug. Obviously that’s the most obvious place to pause, but I find it’s best to pause when there’s only a few left so you’re not overwhelmed when you restart (and you shouldn’t get the bug). I wish they’d fix it.

Ah well, it was inevitable. Still, I can always say I was first. ;)

Tunnel Shoot free today. Haven’t tried it yet but it looks like a nifty semi-abstract shooter.

Has anyone tried the Dark Nebula games? Saw it mentioned on TouchArcade and it looks sorta cool.

Edit: Gave it a try… very fun, especially for a buck. Nice enhancement to old labyrinth-style gameplay. There’s 2 episodes now. I grabbed the first.

Thanks, added you both in there along with a few others.

Crimson Gem Saga is out, it’s a PSP port. I am liking it so far, much closer to a console game. Longer game, good production, etc. It’s not iOS4 ready however, which seems dumb to me for any game released now, and make sure to 1) save frequently and 2) switch the control to fixed, as floating is apparently broken. The devs seem to be following forums and taking suggestions though, which is always good. I guess there are a couple know bugs (i got stuck in a menu once) but they are known and hopefully will be addressed.

Big thumbs up for Angry Birds!

The Hero is on sale for 99 cents, down from 1.99 or 2.99. I’m a sucker for superheroes but I’m enjoying it. Great style, lots of stuff to keep track of as you try to keep the city safe from a wide variety of threats happening all at once, but the controls are a little too floaty. Definitely worth a buck, though.

So Long, Oregon is out. The new game from the EnviroBear guy.

And it is very good.

I was laughing the entire train ride home.
