Not sure if it’s been mentioned but I find Angry Bird to be more than a little addictive.

It has been but it’s worth mentioning again. I just finished getting all 3-stars on the first chapter (level 1-21). And I got a Golden Egg! How about you?

Fragger is a lot of fun once you’ve wrung out Angry Birds and want something similar but just different enough that it’s worth playing. There’s a trial, and you can also play for free online to see if you like it. Most definitely worth the buck they charge.

hey,

would be interested what you think of a turnbased/real time soccer strategy game? Check out the teaser video below… this is my upcoming game

if you like it/hate it let me know…

I haven’t written it off at all - I have a bunch of iPhone games and love things like The Quest and Wolfenstein RPG. But every single action game I’ve tried has been hilariously awkward to play.

That… looks like something I’d very much enjoy. I’m a huge fan of turn-based simulations of fast things – I’ve run a number of Formula De leagues in the past for that very reason, and I absolutely adore Car Wars.

When do you expect release?

Galcon Labs is free today. I really like the original Galcon, so I guess a free sequel is good news.

The “sequel” is unfortunately pretty much exactly the same game, with a few changes for the worse. Be glad that you get it now when it’s free, and didn’t make the mistake of paying money for it…

I hope it will be ready in septemoctoberish :-) It will be local multiplayer, later, AI should be ready, and then network multiplayer (only if there is enough interest going on)… It is inspired by Frozen Synapse, but will have a very basic UI… (FS is really steep)

Reiner Knizia’s Samurai is out for iPhone and will soon become a universal app. It’s a superb boardgame, and the iPhone implementation looks fantastic.

Here’s the Boardgamegeek link:

Stop what you are doing right now and download this one - Sherlock.

This is the old Everett Kaser DOS (then Windows) game, ported to the iPhone. Free to download, and you can purchase more puzzles at given sizes in-app.

I have been waiting for this game since forever.

So what all classic euro board games are available for iPhone? I’ve got Carcassonne, Catan and now Samurai. There should be a category which is just ‘awesome boardgames I could never get enough people together to play’.

Also, Talisman or the Arcadia: the Wyld Hunt games.

Here’s a quick brain dump of recent purchases for both my iPod Touch and iPad along with the stars I rated them on iTunes.

Zombie Escape (*****)- The most fun I’ve had with those path-drawing games (e.g. Flight Control, Harbor Master) because of the fun power-ups, simple economy, nice scenario variety, achievements, and survival mode. Easily worth a buck.

Dark Nebula Ep. 2 (*****) - As beautifully polished and fun as Dark Nebula 1. Granted, you’re going to beat it an hour, but it’s a freakin’ dollar. I paid $4 for my latte this afternoon and finished it in 10 minutes. Plus, it’s by the former lead designer on Battlefield 2.

Bird Strike (Gold) (***) - A tilt-based vertical jumper similar to Doodle Jump. Some charm, but the memorization-based gameplay wears off quickly. Just ok.

iWordz Mystery (**) - In my desperate search for good word-based games, I often buy things of dubious value, and this is one of them. It’s a hangman-based game where you read all the definitions for the mystery word and then attempt to guess it. In my first play through I got to about 30 words in a row and quit through boredom. Might be fun for kids, though.

Knights Onrush - (***) A variation on the Tower Defense them where you have a single fortress to defend and hordes of enemies that you must defeat by either flicking them to their deaths, or using the upgradeable equipment you’ve purchased. Heavily twitch-based and the cramped screen of the iPhone makes this better on the iPad.

Miner Disturbance (****) Get it? It’s a pun! Miner disturbance? Sigh. Apart from the regrettable pun in the title, this is actually a really fun game. You’re a dig-dug like digger who’s got to go underground to find copper, silver, gold and artifacts. But the constant threat of cave-ins, drowning, and trolls keeps things interesting. The only issue that prevents 5 stars is the at-times frustrating virtual dpad that makes digging up and to the left/right an act of supreme self-control.

Monster Dash (**) - Like Cannabalt and get’s just as old just as quickly. Not for me.

HexaLex (***) - Did I mention the word game thing? This one features a Scrabble-like board but you have to place words Crosswords-style where every adjacent word has to spell something, even if it’s a 2-letter nonsense word that only exists in the mind of Scrabble players. Fiendishly difficult to place words at times makes the fun premise crash to a halt.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good all-in-one casual boardgame app? Something with checkers, chess, reversi, backgammon and maybe a connect four ripoff and some other basic boardgames like those, all under one roof? I don’t care if the single player sucks. It would be bought mainly for hotseat play.

Just got my iPhone 4… what’s a good game that has high res graphics to take advantage of it?

You should download the Kindle app.

Ha ha. I’m a dick.

Osmos is gorgeous on the iPhone 4, but not nearly as chill and relaxing as the damned description said it would be.

Thanks for posting this. I absolutely adored Sherlock and had no idea it was being ported to the iPhone/iPod Touch. I’ve snapped it up immediately, and also immediately paid the $2.99 for the additional 50,000 puzzles.

Here’s hoping more of the Everett Kaser logic games get ported as well.

Nice. I was looking at Astraware Board Games, which has Nine Men’s Morris instead of Mancala and Chutes and Ladders instead of Connect Four and is only $2.99. I give a crap about Chutes and Ladders, but Mancala and Connect Four vs Nine Men’s Morris is tougher.

There’s also a really well done ripoff of Sherlock called Marple. It was free the other day, not sure its normal price.

I’m hoping for Honeycomb Hotel - I preferred that game to Sherlock even though it had a similar idea.
