I saw this screenshot and for a split second I thought Conquest of the Longbow had been released as an iphone game. Hopes: dashed.

I still play. I cannot say why. I cannot say why I still fart with We Farm either.

Hey, Helsing’s Fire now has challenge maps with global competition for the first player to beat them! I beat an easy one for 6 shillings… the rest seemed impossible. I must be missing some new trick in the game mechanics.

Build-a-Lot 2: Town of the Year is on sale now for $0.99 .
I love the series on Steam and curse you for not being on the German App Store yet! Only got thefirst gamewhich is also on sale (Lite version available as well)

Ooo yes guys thanks for the recommendation - Epic Citadel is well excellent. Ooo the bump mapping, Ooo the cloth moving in the wind, really veh lovely. Can’t wait for a game to be built using this technology.

Rimelands is out…

i have never played any HoMM game until i got this clone. i had absolutely no idea what was going on as a lot of the interface is stripped down and assumes a familiarity with the source material. however, i was intrigued enough to go back and purchase HoMM3 from GoG which gave me the knowledge i needed to enjoy Palm Heroes a lot more as I now have a better idea of what it is i am supposed to be doing.

still wouldn’t pay $5 for it

Well, at least it got one person who’d never played HoMM to give it a whirl. That means the game isn’t a complete failure.

I really wonder why more companies aren’t porting old PC games to the iPhone. Panzer/Fantasy General would be a slam dunk, and there are about a million other games that would work well with touch controls.

Speaking of older games, I just sprung for The Settlers but haven’t had a chance to play it yet.

Oops, got the IPad version of Settlers. The IPhone/Touch versions have been out for awhile.

Can’t figure out if I should get the iPad version of Settlers, Civ Rev or maybe the iPhone version of Sim City. Any recommendations?

I have iPhone Settlers and iPad Civ Rev.

I haven’t played much Settlers, but the little I played didn’t inspire me to play more then and there.

iPad Civ Rev isn’t the best thing in the world, but it’s a pretty faithful port. It has the same end-game slowdown every CivRev port does. It doesn’t have a Civopedia I don’t think, but it does have a half-assed tech tree. So that’s something. The lack of Civopedia hurts, but if you’ve played the game on another platform, you’re golden. And if not, I’m pretty sure you can find an internet FAQ or something that lists everything the civopedia would. For the price, overall, it’s fairly solid.

X-COM would be passable on an iPhone/iTouch, I think. That would be awesome.

But the one I’ve been waiting for and really do hope to see someday is The Fool’s Errand.

I rather like Hoggy, which is free right now. Terrible name though.

I’m a bit perplexed by the inclusion of Shibuya in the PAX 10. It’s a neat simple little puzzle game worth the 99 cents, but PAX 10 caliber? Hardly.

HOLY SHIT!

I got to play with one of these in elementary school as part of the super smart kids curriculum!

Rimelands is a nice little turn-based isometric RPG with very nice graphics. The tactical combat system, complete with dice rolling is simple enough that you get the hang of it very quickly, and tactical enough to keep it interesting. Gear (with names in white, green and blue), quests (complete with ! marks above the heads of quest-givers) and dialogue are quite similar to WoW, the premise is a mixture of Fallout (humanity has been living in vaults for a long time and recently emerged) and Arcanum (steampunk).

There are some minor issues, but nothing that really detracts from my enjoyment of it. The dungeon-crawling really has that more-ish quality - the lure of the next chest/quest item/level-up/talent etc provides good motivation, and the game is fun to play.

I strongly recommend it.

The comments in the bottom link say it sucks. It’s also $5.

Edit - oh, look, the comments have changed. Hrm. Nonetheless, the game looses mucho points for the DERP icon.

I find the game alright, it hasn’t grabbed me like say Space Miner but I plan to play more of it when I get time. There’s a special kind of hell for people who judge games based on icons though.

Don’t think this has been mentioned here yet… apologies if I missed it.

Shibuya is awesome. I’ve not fired up any other games on my phone since I bought it 4 days ago.
