It’s probably just Heroes 2 ported with DOSBox. You can even see the DOS cursor on the screenshot.

Hey
i play Rolando or the flash game Majong…
or some of my facebook apps like Farmville or the game Ponyrama =)
GTA Chinatown Wars on sale.
Both (iPhone and iPad versions) for
$6.99 (5,49 EUR) down from $9.99 (7,99 EUR).
I’d just like to say, in general, that for $0.99 you can’t go wrong.
And for free, you definitely can’t go wrong.
To wit, Space Miner Blast is now released as a “freemium” game. Don’t expect another Space Miner - this is the asteroid-blasting elements of Space Miner turned into a standalone app. But they’ve obviously worked hard to put as many bells and whistles on the basic gameplay to turn it into a fun score-attack game, and you can’t go wrong for free really. It basically plays more like Meteor Blitz now, although without the cool weapon dynamics.
Note the Retina graphics are there but locked until you make an in-game purchase. Kind of lame, but they do unlock immediately when you buy something, so there’s no need for an extra download.
The fire button is borked right now. If you tap the upper part of it it engages the thrusters instead of shooting. Steering also kind of sucks because if your thumb leaves the wheel at all you lose control.
I ponied up for the $2 blast pack because I like the dev and am confident they’ll fix things.

It still hasn’t been patched yet, but Chu Chu Rocket is on sale for $3 right now, down from $5 (and $5 on iPad, down from $7). Looks like the only Sega title on sale right now, though.

I don’t mean to get into a huge DLC discussion, but I don’t see how this is any more lame than the IAP (in-app purchase) you’re otherwise making. Both are already in the game, both are unlocked when you hand over cash.
In our free-to-play future, and even in our DLC-heavy future, there are all sorts of locked features that ship with games that you need to pay extra to unlock.
It’s not that lame. It’s just the first time I’ve seen Retina graphics as a paid unlock.

I dunno… In a “freemium” game, I think anything that they want to charge for is fine.
But charging for Retina graphics would be bizarre in a paid app. Imagine buying a console game and having to pay for DLC to unlock 720p resolution…
It happens, they just do it by making a separate ‘HD’ release. I’m not sure how often it happens, but after a little poking around I found ‘MahJong Lite’, ‘MahJong’, and ‘MahJong HD’ by the same company.
Of course the HD version supports the iPad too, but if you’re on an iPhone and just have regular ‘MahJong’ and want the Retina support, you have to buy ‘MahJong HD’. Making it an in-app purchase would probably actually be cheaper, for the person who just wants to upgrade.
Death Worm is out! I prefer it to Super Mega Worm because I’m not a big fan of 8-bit retro graphics, or of starving while trying to find tasty humans.
To be fair, the lite version is a free demo, the regular one probably predates the iPad and retinal display and is probably still on sale and cheaper than the HD version for people with non-retinal iPhones/iPods which is still a valuable market and the HD version is for retinal and iPad. They’re not really asking people to upgrade as they’re intended for different platforms and new customers can just buy the HD version right out of the gate if they have a device that supports it.
How are the controls? I found the controls in Super Mega Worm counter intuitive.

I personally think it’s an amazing solution. No lite version, just the game. And hey, if you don’t want ads and sweet retina display, fork over 99 cents, or 2$ for all 3 ships!
It’s a wonderful way to get people to try you game, get ad ad revenue, then clients $. Brilliant.
The controls are the same as the virtual gamepad controls in Super Mega Worm. I found them very easy to use.
Hmm, I found that the turning in that felt wrong especially when compared to the way it worked in the Death Worm flash game.
Hmm, just tried it again and it felt better. I wonder if they changed it with an update. I think it used to be keyed off a different relative.

Edge got Retina Display graphics and went Universal!
Looks like Rimelands has been discussed a few times already, and it’s on sale for $0.99 right now.
