I don’t think they actually use RPG Maker, just the assets.

Another nod for Ash, and agree, best RPG I’ve played on the app store so far.
I read somewhere they created the engine but licensed the art from RPGmaker, as was said earlier.
The Touch Arcade review mentions licensing the assets, and comments on the article make the explicit (and highly likely) claim that they built the engine while licensing the assets.
Ninjatown: Trees of Doom, it’s an awesome score-attack game that I’ve mentioned a couple of times. I am/was on the top 25 for the timed mode, I was as high as 14th in the world, but I haven’t played it or looked at it for a couple of months, so maybe that score has been surpassed.
It is a really great game, and yeah, the first thousand feet are basically a tutorial, and you can skip them once you’ve gotten to 1000 at least once. If you feel you’re starting to master the various obstacles, then it’s time to try timed mode, which IMO is where the real action is at.
It’s only a buck, and really a great game from a great developer. Easy to get into, easy to learn, but there’s enough depth to keep you playing for 30 hours or more if you can get into it. It’s possibly the best value game I’ve ever bought on any platform, ever, in terms of fun per dollar. 30 hours of play per dollar spent is pretty mad.
Thought I’d give an example of what I mean by well-written dialog. (just got to this part)
Damien:(At an inn, after having spent several days on a boat) “Somewhere in this building is a bed that is both stationary and not made of rope.”
Nicholas: “Would that you were as excited about bathing”.
Damien: “I smell how a man should smell”
Nicholas: “After he cleans a latrine”
Damien: “You are a very crotchety old man”
Yuka: “Did you just use the word 'crotchety”?
Nicholas: “Yes he did”
Yuka: “I didn’t think you knew words that big, Damien”
Damien: “Why has every conversation involving the three of us devolved into how unintelligent I am?”
Nicholas: “Why doe the duck fly, but the ostrich does not? Life is full of mysteries, Damien”
The game is full of banter like that (or better). That’s just an ordinary sample.
Yea it’s not gonna win any writing awards, but if there’s a better written RPG for the iPhone I sure haven’t seen it.
Thanks, that’s very helpful, actually.

Rage and Rage HD have been approved and are currently available on the australian store. Touch arcadeexpect it to be released at 11 pm est tonight!
For those late to the party, it is an on rails corridor shooter, the complete opposite of the real Rage.

Star Wars: Hoth has some great video clips. Still deciding on the gameplay, but the way they’ve spliced in clips from Empire Strikes Back, mmmmhmmm. Great teaching device for my 3 year old.

Awesome! I enjoyed that Doom on rails shooter they did.

Would you still recommend it? Maybe we should wait until after Rage releases, before you answer that. Because it looks like the direct sequel to Doom Resurrection, except with a Rage skin…
I am also very glad they are opting for a 2 sku release. I am tired of having my games held back to accommodate older phones. Premium price is sketchy, but I am willing to pay for the better textures!

Rage is up on the store! Remember, there is a 2$ HD version and a 1$ sd version!
I am downloading on my iPad and iPhone 4, I’ll give impressions later!

Do you mean the Tower Defense one? Because sadly, its one of the worst tower defense games on the iPhone.

Grabbed it.
It’s really pretty, but it’s more of the same rail-shooting gameplay we’ve seen a thousand times before.
Controls don’t feel that good on an iPad either.
But hey, two bucks.

So I played the first level of Rage and it took me 8 minutes and a half.
I was pretty cool, so I played the second level. It took me 12 minutes.
Then I realized I spent 20 minutes on the toilet.
I prefer the iPhone version, but the iPad one is also very nice. I can see myself replaying these levels to get better scores, a thing I never do in any game. The pacing seems slow, but you can go faster if you hold the dodge button. So you quickly find yourself running from spot to spot, then firing and dodging projectiles and active reloading. Really a frantic pace that is optional, but really cool.
Definitely one of the best iPhone games available, I strongly recommend it.
Oh and it’s really, really pretty. REALLY.
Downloading Rage now. HD version looks great, like that Unreal Engine tech demo. I’m looking forward to playing a game this pretty on my phone.

I would have liked a mode where the player could just wander the areas without enemies, just to look at the textures and graphics.
Still can’t believe this is on my phone. I thought Pac Man was cool 5 years ago on my shitty cell phone.
Latest Street Fighter IV update is out. Everyone knew they were adding Sagat, but I had no idea they were also adding Deejay. Awesome?

Yeah you may be right. It has gotten pretty lame. I did like the video clips though!
Bloody hell! 1.2 Gigabytes!
Fair warning to anyone like me who actually have to juggle for space on their iDevices.
