Galaxy on Fire 2 is very impressive from a technical perspective, but I’m already getting bored after a few hours. Trading and asteroid mining seem pointless as the profit is far too low compared to missions. Space outside each station is exactly the same: some asteroids to mine, perhaps some random enemy ships, and mission targets if applicable. Despite the surprisingly good voice acting in the story bits, I’ve never seen an open-world game fail so completely at establishing a credible, interesting game world. This amazing space sim engine would have been better used in a simple arcade game.

Zenonia and Zenonia 2 are on sale for 99 cents and $2.99.

Haha, it’s kinda funky. You tilt and rotate your device to move the gun–OR you can use Augmented Reality (AR) mode, so you rotate your chair to move the gun left to right, then pitch up and down with the device. You may look silly but it works much better.

So far it’s okay, but that fucking beeping sound when you get below 20% or so on your shields is annoying–it keeps playing between the end of the level and the stage stats screen and that lasts like 15 seconds. Ugh. There’s some movie cutscenes as well as some cheap voice-overs, and all kinds of little extras.

So far… not too bad.

Think I definitely need to get that Lego Harry Potter game.

Are these any good?

Try to “buy” it again from inside iTunes.

It actually automatically DLed once I got iTunes up and running under 4.2. So hooray!

I don’t think so. I got Zenonia for .99 a while back, hoping for a decent riff on Secret of Mana. It’s pretty dull, though. The bigger deal from these guys is their new baseball game, Baseball Superstars (or whatever) 2011 for $2.99.

Ash just got D-pad support.

The Harry Potter game is fantastic, but really also needs a D-pad. At least for the iphone - I spend half the time covering the screen with my hand.

Gameloft sale. Lots of stuff for $.99, including Iron Man 2, Asphalt 5, Brothers in Arms 2, UNO, The Settlers, NFL 2011, Hero of Spart 2 and Shrek Kart. The highlight is probably Let’s Golf 2. I don’t even like golf games and I love the hell out of LG2.

I just noticed that too. Is The Settlers any good?

Thanks for the Settlers heads up!!

There is a “Lite” version you can try. It was good enough for $.99. :)

ChuChu Rocket is currently a buck, down from three.

No idea, but it was worth $.99 to me, even though I’m still hooked on Game Dev Studio and Slice It.

That said, the iPad versions of some of these games are also $.99. Let’s Golf 2 and Settlers specifically. Not all of them, though. So check and see. Hooray?

well the trial of The Settlers is really quick… and well, really doesn’t tell you much more then reading reviews and the overview. but at $.99 I think it’s worth it. Seems like a combination between Magisty and AoE.

I’m still waiting on pulling the trigger on Game Dev Studio. if anything because I figure it will eventually drop more, and well, I have enough keeping me busy now.

Super Monkey Ball 2 is on sale for $2 now (normally $6, I think). Looks like the iPad version is a bit cheaper too. Edit: Actually, it’s part of a bunch of Sega stuff on sale, like the aforementioned ChuChu Rocket, and the Genesis games.

An overview of deals so far in this Touch Arcade thread:

Quite some games that were mentioned / discussed in here.
For example “100 Rogues” is down to $1.99 US

Done with Death Worm. Great game but sadly there’s no decent endless / time trial mode, and the three story levels are way too long to replay for high scores. Also, the last mission of the last level sucked – killing 10 UFOs (and without Super Mega Worm’s aerial target indicators!) is basically impossible, I eventually managed five. So now I’m back to Super Mega Worm.

Awesome, been waiting for that game to go on sale.

And this is why I check this thread more often than any other on the entire Qt3 forum. I love you thread and iPhone.

Cut the Rope update is live. Uh oh. Cosmic Box is hard, plus it seems to rely on fast reactions a lot more than previously - hit the gravity button, pop bubble, hit gravity button again before candy flies off screen. But hey, more CTR is welcome.

The more time I’ve spent with Cut the Rope, the less I’ve liked it.
