Civ Rev is not available on iPhone here in Norway, but strangely enough the iPad version is.

tell me about it. I’ve been following this game for quite some time. I waited until a good sale and snatched it up. I expected it to be bug free by now, but nope. there are still horrible bugs with “simple” stuff such as wielding a 2 handed weapon. seems pretty bad if you ask me. :(

I’ve been lucky so far, no real bugs encountered apart from a couple of loading crashes (that were recoverable). Apart from the clunky performance it’s surprisingly fun, even though I keep dying around Dungeon 3.

I would like to post more often in this thread. I mean, we all enjoy these small games, and should share more often what we find or awesome deals!

The coming month is THE biggest month for iOS gaming EVER. Quick and dirty screens and blurbs for upcoming releases.

Aralon: Sword and Shadow - December 16th

30 hour long open world WRPG with pretty graphics. Trailer.

Infinity Blade - December 9th

My most anticipated game of the bunch. A very linear medieval punch-out with loot. Without spoiling it, there will be a interesting take on New Game+ that will guarantee re playability.

Real Racing 2 - soon

Quite the epic bullshot considering this gameplay video, but either way it looks gorgeous.

–Gameloft copyright rape section–

I will include the Gameloft releases, because most of their games are solid experiences. And the next month will see the biggest ones yet:

Final Fantasy !!! (Eternal Legacy…) - TBD (within a month)

Final Fantasy clone? Looks good enough, play it with custom music tough, the voice acting will be atrocious.

Halo !!! (N.O.V.A 2) - TBD (within a month)

iPhone FPS are mostly misses, but we do see rare hits. Gyro controls show incredible potential, let’s hope this one will make good on the promise. Trailer makes it look like a slow paced Halo (MOLASSES CITY).

Aralon: Sword and Shadow looks amazing!

I believe Ossian’s (Darkness over Daggerford, Mysterys of Westgate) new RPG is coming out on IOS this month, looking forward to that as well. The Shadow Sun is its name.

Gameloft is back to iPhone stuff and Rayman 2: The Great Escape is free for today.

huzzah. I love Rayman 2 on DC, I can’t wait to be frustrated by the controls on the iphone

A competing developer created a way to emulate your system on their console. To bad the game doesn’t let you use the. ;)

I finally kicked the Game Dev Story habit (for now) and I’ve been playing Dungeon Raid, Doodle God, and Train Conductor 2: USA.

I wish there were more people making original games on the app store. Too many of these games coming out are just shameless clones of other, better, games. I don’t know that it’s worth my time to replay them simply because they are the only option available.

I need to get to work on my game – since it doesn’t actually exist on the app store in any form. Amazingly.

Infinity Blade could not interest me less. I know it’s because I had my own hopes for what Chair would make after seeing Epic Citadel, but an on rails fantasy Punch Out, even with the gimmick, just does nothing for me. Hell, I don’t even need it as a tech demo, since Epic Citadel is free.

Aralon? Well, we’ll see. I’m not sure that the kind of ADD gaming that the iPhone inspires in me is really going to be captured by a 30 hour RPG.

You just described Gameloft’s primary business strategy.

Edit: Update for Dungeon Raid! New monsters, new spells, new difficulty level, last played name saved for next game, support for app switching and best of all? 20 new intro stories! Yaaay!

The Dungeon Raid update is out. I’m at work so I haven’t been able to try it yet, but I won’t let that stop me for long.

I think I was first, Edits McEditson.

i would love Dungeon Raid so much more if there were random loot drops

drool drool drool

I kind of wish that we were allowed to pick from more stuff when we levelled, but if I could just pick my favorite things every time I’d never end up playing around with different builds.

My best game so far was with a heavy Charisma/Luck character with the spell that removes all coins, the spell that turns all skulls in to swords, the spell that doubles potions for a turn and the spell that removes all potions and gives you XP for them. I also did my normal thing where I pick one item of armor, usually the hat, where I don’t ever bother to replace it and I just put whatever upgrades are offered on to it. In this case I ended up with a breastplate with +4 spikes, +4 regen, blunt 1 and 1.5x XP. As a result my guy basically had a 95% chance for bonus on all things, got 1.5 XP a kill, frequently cleared the board to get bonus XP, etc etc.

So fucking fun. I love this game.

Edit: If you’re one of those people super jazzed about Gameloft’s Final Wannabe, Eternal Legacy, it just hit the app store for seven bucks.

Just got a (free!) new Touch from a work vendor. My son has a version 3(?) touch. Are there any games that we can play against each other? Sort of like on a lan (except over wifi).

Can someone explain damage to me in dungeon raid? The tutorial doesn’t seem clear – when I have a sword, it’s +2 right now. Ok. Then I drag it on a skull and damage changes from 2 to 5. I don’t understand why. Also the skull seems to have 3hp? So now I need two swords to kill one skull but it says 7 damage when I lift off my finger.

You have a base damage value plus your weapon damage. Matching enemies without swords will only do the base damage, not all of which will apply to their health if they have armor. Each sword you match along with the enemies adds your weapon damage to the total.

Ah, and the other part of the puzzle is that you have to match a minimum of three.

Is dungeon raid infinite? I’m level 60 with no end in sight. The combination of addictive play and infinite play is kind of dangerous, and I’m thinking about uninstalling for my own good.

I use the spell to turn swords into gold in combination with gold doubler and the shield and potion remover spells. The result was that I cleared a whole screen of coins for double value pretty regularly. Fun to figure out, but now that I’ve got the system down and I think my play is pretty optimized, it’s a bit of a grind.

Level 60? I have never gotten even remotely close to 60, so now I feel horribly inadequate.

As for upcoming games, Aralon does look incredible - there was a video somewhere (on Touch Arcade or Slide To Play I think) showing their initial teaser video and comparing it to the most recent teaser. And man, has the game improved and evolved a ton between those two videos! Pretty sure I’m picking this up.

Infinity Blade, though, does not do it for me. Sure, it looks awesome. But isn’t it more or less a God of War type game? That gameplay doesn’t appeal to me.

It’s not even a God of War style game. It’s Mike Tyson’s Punch Out as an action RPG.
