ARGH! I buy Infinity Blade and Dungeon Defenders, only to discover ‘This item is not compatible with your device.’ Darn my 2nd Gen Ipod Touch…

They let you buy things that you can’t run? That seems unfortunate.
It depends from where you buy.
From iTunes:
No checking if you have the device that can run it
I got some free iPad apps although I don’t own an iPad (yet).
From iDevice:
At least some checking if your device can run it (I tried to buy an iPad only app earlier from my iPod Touch and was refused with something like “Your device can’t run this application” when I tried).
However usually developers will descibe restrictions in the text at the iTune Store. For example: Requires iOS 4.0
It is my hope to have a ipod touch 4 soon, but that’s still a couple of months off… shrug It’s not bad, just a little frustrating.

Is the Tomb Raider game out today the same one as was available on the Xbox 360 that everyone was raving about?
This is actually a little frustrating, as sometimes it’s easier for me just to gift applications to myself if I want to install them on the iPad. Which means I need to be at my PC with iTunes running, since it won’t even bring them up on my iPhone’s app store.
Yes, but I’ve heard this version is a patch or two away from being very good.

Anyone have any experiance with Orions: Legend Of Wizards - it was highly rated when it came out awhile ago, but i’m not sure how it holds up.
It is down to 99 cents right now though

I noticed Mirror’s Edge was among the many EA bits that dropped to 99 cents, and pulled the trigger on it. Ended up enjoying it much more than I thought I would; aside from a few sequences, the controls have a real nice flow to them. In a few ways, I like it more than the original namesake, namely in doing a better job in having a bit of alternate paths through levels, and in the lack of jarringly shoehorned combat–it keeps the focus on moving and taking out cops on the run.

Yea, I ran into the same situation with Bit.Trip.Beat. From what I’ve heard, though, it doesn’t control very well and I ended up getting it for the PC anyway.

Every forum poster on Touch Arcade has had the exact opposite experience with the game than is put forth on the front page preview. It’s suspected the Touch Arcade editors had a preview copy.
Everyone seems to have zero frame rate issues and they generally really like the controls.
Dead Rising Mobile is already 3 bucks off, and Backbreaker 2 is down to $.99.
Edit: Sad at the lack of Aralon impressions! Kurdel, where’d you go?
I’ll second this. I picked it up a few months ago for $0.99 and found it to be even better than I expected.
I just grabbed it and did a quick duel. The card game part feels an awful lot like Spectromancer (this is not a bad thing). Haven’t had a chance to dive into the campaign yet so can’t comment on that.

It’s a good game and I’d buy it for 99 cents if I didn’t own it but it is SUPER FUCKING UNSTABLE. Save after every fight or you will be sorry.

The buggiest game I found was Dragon’s Lair. Can’t get it to work at all.
Well eff you guys if no one’s offering thoughts on Aralon.
All I managed to get through was the intro and a little bit past before I had to leave. Plays very similarly to WoW so far. Perhaps too similarly, since the TouchArcade thread seems to be breaking down into camps of people who think they’re five seconds away from being hit with huge lawsuits by Blizzard for directly stealing assets and ideas and people who think that the other people are crazytown. Character creation was a bit buggy for me. I clicked on the human and then I clicked on female, but it never changed the model, so I stuck with male. Then when I clicked to go forward, it showed me an elven mage and an elven ranger, but offered me the three classes humans can take, warrior, rogue, ranger and mage. The opening story is pretty cliche, so we’ll see where it goes from there. The main character, at least for a human male, has a voice so fucking awful I want to turn it off. Not that the acting is bad, the voice itself sounds like they brought in Marlee Matlin and then just downpitched it a few octaves. It’s really quite awful. Sadly, I got nothing else. I had to save and quit. So more later!

I like detective stories, so I picked up Cause of Death: Can You Catch the Killer? (link) from the EA sale.
It’s an extremely simple “game.” Just read the story and tap to continue; very lightweight. You have to make quick decisions from time to time. The game relies on you paying attention to the portraits of people that appear and to the backgrounds. It’s sort of like a cross between a Choose Your Own Adventure and Phoenix Wright. Surprisingly, the story isn’t geared towards children; there’s discussion of sexual assault, serial killers, strangulation, petechial hemorrhaging, suffocation, roofies, date rape, etc. within the first 10 minutes. I enjoyed the first part of the story. I definitely wouldn’t pay more than $0.99 for it and I might not buy the additional chapters as they become available, but I’ve enjoyed it for what it is.
(By the way, the screenshots very accurately represent 99% of the gameplay – read the screen and then tap.)
You don’t have to pay for the episode that “airs” in a certain week.
You only will have to pay if you “miss it” (don’t download / play it within that week).
I got it, too and it’s pretty nice like the High-School game EA also has with the same concept but this here is way more mature and suitable for older gamers / gamers from countries that don’t know much about the US Highschool culture.

Oh, that’s cool. This might be a good weekly diversion, in that case…
