Honestly I’d put Space Miner in the top 5 iPhone/iPad games ever made
Space Miner is easily in my top 5. I don’t mind Blast either, but it’s too dependent on keeping a combo going, and too easy to lose your combo due to bad luck. That combination (har har) of factors has put me off playing it long term. It hasn’t stopped me from getting the 18th best score on Game Centre for it, though. I see now that someone has a billion points (next best is like 50 million, my best is 17 million). Ok. I’m guessing combo non-stop from wave 1 to wave 100 or so. Keeping the combo going increases your score exponentially, so in a way, a billion isn’t as much more than 50 million as it seems, certainly not 20 times better, more like 2 times better. It could also just be the difference between dropping your combo once mid-game, and not doing that. It could be that half a second was the difference between the guy who got 50 mil, and the guy who got a bil - this is why I stopped playing.
Edit: The real reason I was going to post, before being distracted by Space Miner, is that Osmos for a buck is a must-buy. Great game, and if the buck is going to help sick children play games to brighten their days, then you really can’t not buy it!

I really wish they’d put the iPad version of Osmos on sale. I’ve already bought it three times (Steam, Games for Windows to get achievements, and iPhone).
Thanks for this great heads-up!
All those indie games are worth well over a buck, and many are universal. Special props to Drop 7, which is amazing and never goes on sale. Everyone should grab it.

Same with Eliss.
Never went on sale before!
I grabbed both as they were on my wish list for quite some while.
Sega’s got Mr Driller and Phantasy Star II for $.99. Capcom dropped Street Fighter IV to $6.99 and has Ghosts n Goblins Gold for $.99. Game Dev Story is back down to $2.99. Gameloft has dropped Spider-Man to $.99. And Dungeon Raid is down a buck to $1.99.
Hooray Christmas.
Get these deals while they’re hot. A lot of people are expecting some of these developers to raise their prices back up at the last second before Apple does the iTunes freeze over the holidays. The idea being that by dropping their prices people can get mentioned on iTunes featured page and top ten lists, then at the last moment they bump the prices back up to normal and then thousands of people with new iPads and iPhones and iTunes gift cards will rush to the store and buy whatever’s hot. The first part is certainly working, with tons of EA titles filling the top ten lists.

I picked up Secret of Mana. The virtual d-pad can be irritating. There’s a “Directional Assist” option… toggling it seems to make some aspects of movement better and some worse. Precise movement when targeting enemies eludes me at the moment.
The $.99 Spider-Man game Bahimiron mentioned is surprisingly great. It controls well and the combat is a blast. Plus, the camera works really well.
I got some tangerines at the grocery store for $4.99 and they are totally worth the money. The skins peel off easily and the insides are juicy and delicious!
However, none of the proceeds went to charity, so I also purchased Eliss and Drop 7.

Wow.
I’m loading up the trailer now, and I’ve only read the description. I don’t know if my phone will run it, but this looks pretty damn cool.
This looks very innovative, but I worry if my iTouch can run it well. On the iTunes store page it specifically states that the original iPhone and iPhone3g aren’t up to snuff. However, it says the 3GS should work fine, but the page makes no mention of 3rd Gen iTouch’s. I was under the impression that the 3GS and 3rd Gen touches shared hardware. Am I wrong?
The 16 and 32 3G Touches are comparable to the 3GS. the 8 was just a 2G.
Thanks Linoleum, you just cost me $7 :)
Anyone trying Perfect Cell yet?
Picked this up on the sale, actually really liked it. Got maybe an hour and a half or so worth out of it. If I can get that once a week, it’ll have been easily worth the $.99 purchase. Though now I need to hurry to beat this week’s free episode, so I don’t start going out of order. It’s pretty much the ultimate game to play while doing my walk from my parking space to my home.
I can’t! The free DLC episodes continue the story, but are nowhere near as long as the Maskmaker story. Instead they’re equal to one chapter or so in length, where the Maskmaker story was six chapters long. Still, they’re free, if ad supported. And I appreciate that Mal and Natara aren’t going after big, dramatic cases every time. The second story was a regular ol’ homicide. I wish they were longer, but hell, I’m still enjoying it.
Nope. Game Center doesn’t allow two apps to interact, even if they’re two versions of the same app.

I am blown away because my 4 kids bought me an iPad 16g for Christmas. They hid it on a big bokshelf in our living room so it was there in front of me for a week (laugh).
I was wondering if anyone could recommend some strategy or board type games (i like turn based the most) and also like Tower Defense. I do have a few for my itouch and do not know what will transfer well to he ipad or if there are ipad version (like fieldrunners, etc).
Any recommendations are appreciated!
