krayzkrok’s tutorial:

  1. Line up towards the gaps in the track
  2. Flick
  3. Watch krayzkrok win

Things not to do:

  1. Bump into krayzkrok and knock his counter off the track - this incurs a penalty… of some kind
  2. Position your counter directly in front of krayzkrok’s best line, like kaosfere likes to do. This incurs major penalty points… of some kind
  3. Travel in the same direction as krayzkrok - I hear traveling in the opposite direction gives you bonus points… of some kind

Have fun!

I do no such thing!

Nlanza, sent you a game invite!

If you need another person for a bigger race, send me an invite (datter)

Also picked up Disc Drivin, username TriggerHappy. I’m not great at this game at all, but it’s fun!

Death Worm is free right now.

I heard a story on the radio about “brain training” games, and had a hankering to go back and play Brain Training on my DS. However I don’t really want to dig out my DS. Is there a close equivalent on the iPhone? A quick app store search reveals plenty of brain training type games, but I’m hoping for a recommendation. I enjoyed the fact that the DS Brain Training was more about simple no-frills stuff like mental arithmetic, and less about cutesy, cartoony, elaborate physics-based shenanigans like that silly IQ game I remember playing on Facebook a while back.

Gameloft’s Brain Challenge is pretty close to what you’re looking for. There are two. Unfortunately, the original was recently a free giveaway for Gameloft’s kind of crappy advent sale but it’s back to $5 now. In better news, there are lite versions of both games.

It turns out there is no moment at any time of the day or night when I do not have a Disc Drivin’ move to make. I am in approximately 185679137598317598135 games at the moment.

Send more invites!

Joining the Disc Drivin’ hivemind. Send invites to damien!

I’m in on two of these disc drivin’ races atm, definitely up for more if there are more to be invited to.

I just signed up as well. ID is godhugh.

Both the iPad and iPhone versions of Mirror’s Edge are free today.

Apparently this isn’t applicable to the US store.

Still 5 bucks here.

Yep, it’s the international version only. Which is great, because it never went on sale whenever the US version did over the past few months, so finally we get our chance!

Picked up Disc Drivin’, so send me some invites! Username is Vesper.

Ok, I have no idea how to play disc drivin’ yet, but I sent out a bunch of invites. I’m sure it’s fun, since I’ve found all my best games through this thread so far. Send invites to Volbard, especially if you want a newb to stomp!

For those who are a fan of the old Choplifter game, Chopper 2 is on sale for $.99 and is pretty much a modern clone of the game. I know it was on some older systems, but I remember having fun with this on the Sega Master System. Playing this definitely brought back a flood of nostalgia, and I have had a bit of fun with the early levels so far.

I think I’m getting worse at this game the more I play it! But the key to success is to a) figure out the angles (bouncing off a curve is harder than you think) and b) judicious use of the powerups. The most used powerups are boost (default) where timing is critical (use it just before you grind to a halt, but make sure you’re going the right way), and brake (the one straight after boost) to stop those unscheduled appointments with gravity. However, the bomb powerup is also a lot of fun, and I’m sure that the jump powerup is fantastic if and when you get the hang of it.

Spectacular deaths involve falling off the track and then boosting your way to oblivion. Finally, don’t play “A Bump in the Road” track if you want to avoid throwing your phone at the wall.

My theory is that the “boost” powerup is mostly useless. That doesn’t stop me from using it and wasting a powerup, mind you.

And I too am experiencing the “getting worse the more I play” phenomenon.

I think the ‘stop’ powerup is in fact generally the most important.
