That does look promising. I like how Dotson is using the limited screen real estate for that UI. It might just make me want an iPad version, though.
Anyone heard of a game called Wizard Hex? Seems pretty interesting, and it’s on sale until Jan 11. iTunes link here.
The people who make this, Trouble Brothers, are also coming out with a game called Cargo Runners (iPad only I believe), which is described in an article at slidetoplay.com today, and which looks really really nice:

Zooloretto, the fun iPhone game based on the fun boardgame, is down to $.99 temporarily.
I like it, though like a lot of iOS board games it does a shitty job of explaining how to play it.
I’ve been curious about Wizard Hex. The screenshots look nice and the description sounds interesting, but I’ve been a bit cautious because of the combination of price point, unknown developer, and no reviews.
I might yet spring on it if I get bored this weekend, especially if it’s now on sale. If anyone else has checked it out, I’d welcome thoughts.
Also, I love that CargoRunners board.
Note that the current plan for Cargo Runners is to be iPad only, so it’s kind of in the wrong thread. Or at least, it’s teasing those of us who only own a Touch.
Holy heck, THAT Ascendancy?
Slidetoplay reviewed it. 2/4. Their biggest issue is that the game is complex and the instructions are awful.

That, and more importantly, they say that it’s only fun in multiplayer due to terrible single-player AI, and there’s no online play, only hot-seat on a single device.
That’s a shame. The mechanics sound very interesting, and I can deal with hard-to-grok, but bad AI combined with hotseat-only MP are a dealbreaker for me.
I’ll keep an eye out for updates which improve this. Thanks, guys.
I got Wizard Hex yesterday and though I’ve only played a few times, I agree with the general review. It’s gorgeous, and easy to play, but really difficult to figure out what the heck is going on. Plus it does seem pretty easy to win by making a land grab (since once you “wall off” an area your opponent can’t play in there, which means it’s all over but the shouting).
If you like clever adventure games, Scarlett and the Spark of Life has dropped in price to $.99. It’s only about two hours long, which was a sticking point for me at $3.99, but at $.99 I bit and don’t regret it.
For those who haven’t grabbed it yet, 100 Rogues is free for a day. As an added bonus, this is a universal app for the iPad as well.
Damn I just paid $.99 for it yesterday! The horror!
Dungeon Raid is quite addictive, but I too have come up with a powerful combination in my fifth run through of the game. I can turn potions into xp, clear a boss, and completely reset the board. I can also use my shield power to damage skulls (not bosses), but that isn’t as useful as I thought it would be. With the potion ->xp I can save up potions to level quickly. If a boss drops I can banish it, or if things really get hairy, I can resent and give myself some breathing room. I’m up to level 122, and I don’t want to kill myself. I’d rather be beaten by the system or have some sort of end state. So … does anyone know if the game has an end?
Speaking of adventure games, if you haven’t played Hector: Badge of Carnage you’re missing out on what’s probably the best original IP adventure for the iPhone, as well as one of the most hilarious adventure games on ANY platform.
Thanks! Just grabbed it but I heard it’s still quite buggy. Should I even bother?

There are a couple of bugs that I’ve come across, but I wouldn’t call it buggy. Fun game, well worth the time you put in to it.
