That’s what I got, since Adree and BobJustBob said it was the best. I’ve never played S&P1, since both games were pulled from the store before I picked them up.

Yes. There is no story continuation and everything about the 2nd is better. They made it longer, tweaked some things, etc. so just skip 1.

Is Sword and Poker available again? When I tried to get it over Christmas it looked like the guys who made it went out of business.

As mentioned one page back, yes, it’s available again.

I just downloaded the Lite version of S&P2, and it runs, so it looks like it’s available again. I couldn’t get it in December either.

Just bought Sword and Poker, my OCD tendency wouldn’t let me skip straight to the second one.

And on puzzle games… Does anyone know the name of the scrabble meets RPG game, where you had a rack of letters and created words to power your spells in a dungeon crawl/RPG type scenario?

Dungeon Scroll.

I haven’t played it in a long time, but I know that back in the day it was a CPU hog that killed your battery in short order. I’d check the reviews to see if that’s been addressed.

There’s also Bookworm Adventures which was crazy fun.

That hasn’t been released for iOS (unfortunately). There’s plain old Bookworm, but if you want something that apes Adventures you need Bee Spelled.

It looks like the I Dig It folks also made a Bookworm Adventures clone called Professor Wordington’s Spellatorium. I can vouch for Bee Spelled but haven’t tried this one (which is universal).

Oh. Duh. Yeah. I forgot I was in the iOS thread for a second.

It is unfortunate, though! Bookworm Adventures is a blast.

Hive is free at the moment. It’s a terrific abstract board game that is easy to learn because there are very few pieces, but it has a surprising amount of depth.

And I see that Reiner Knizia’s Money is down to $1. This is a universal app with competent AI, and if you like card games it’s a must-have. One of Knizia’s most elegant designs.

Battleheart is an excellent little dungron crawler type game. It’s party based, with tanking, healing, ranged DPS, and melee DPS. It’s easy to pick up, fun, and adictive. It’s also very polished.

I have been unexpectedly readdicted to Dungeon Scroll lately. It’s scrabble-with-dungeons, sort of, and quite fun if you enjoy making words out of a set of letters.

Dungeon Raid is so simple… yet criminally addictive.

Really? I had so many crashes with the thing on my iphone4 i gave up. Every boss battled crashed after winning 95% of the time, i think it took 10 + tries to get past the second boss before i gave it up.

I’ve had no crashes at all on my iPhone 4. I think the game got an update recently which may have solved previous stability issues.

There was a bug in the previous version that crashed it all the time for me – basically using a special right as something was dying. Haven’t had a crash since they fixed that.

Fans of scrolling shooters should check out Sky Combat by Chillingo. It’s not a bullet hell shooter but more leisurely paced, like 1942. Good tilt controls, good graphics, decent selection of powerups.

Also, I got Cows vs Aliens because this review makes it sound like glorious silly fun but I haven’t tried it yet.

Okay, so Sky Combat is good but short, and the endless mode that I had some hopes for is rather boring… and Cows vs Aliens is even simpler than the review made it sound. No must-have games.

You had plenty of company in the earlier versions of Battlehearts, lots of people had problems too. I had one crash after hours and hours of play before and zero since the patch. Great game.
