The Pinball HD/Slayer Pinball folks have a new 3 table pinball game out, War Pinball HD. Tables based on Platoon, Navy Seals, and Missing in Action. Looks to be on par with their other pinball games. Physics seems about the same so far, still I’d say they are doing the best Pinball on the Iphone/Ipad.

Absolutely. I’ve been waiting for some new tables. Going to check these out.

My best games all come with this set of powers:

Teleport (get an all-new board with no skulls)
Change skulls into swords
Turn potions into XP
Enchant an item

and as many Regenerate and Spikes upgrades as I can get.

I succumbed at level 17 when a spiky boss with a high attack rating popped in, and the swords/coins/health/shields all kept falling into view in really unhelpful ways. My previous best was level 8, so this was quite a different game. If anyone’s interested, my skills were:

change coins into swords

I had just banished a boss when spiky boss showed up, making me wonder if boss appearances are a purely random event, rather than a timed (every X turns) event.

-Collect all healing potions
-Collect all shields (I NEVER pick this)
-Freeze next turn? Maybe it is attack themselves. (looks like an asterisk)

Looking back at those, I am more than surprised. I usually like the banish all monsters, skulls to swords and all teleport. Seems like there were almost no good options one time as two of the four choices were the same and useless so I picked up the shields one.

The collect all just seems to clear everything ouot and makes the swords touch each other, so I have kinda migrated to those including the collect all coins. My upgrades…I have jumped around. Just depends what I get, but I am all about damage a lot of times, because if you don’t get damage for a little bit, you fall behind the skulls and are screwed.

I still can’t stop playing, but now that I am getting better and I play one good game (maybe 20 minutes?), I am hesitant to jump right back in.

Why the hell does Google spell check not recognize the word teleport?

It looks like it’s the standalone versions of those 3 tables that are free. Pinball HD (which includes all 3 of those tables) seems to still be .99. I’m not sure if the standalone versions have retina support which Pinball HD does. Also Slayer HD still seems to be 2.99. Still a great way to check things out.

Huh. Yeah, those don’t sound killer! But level 17 is way up there. (For me.)

Yep. That was my personal best this weekend. I always seem to get on a good run while in the restroom (hope that is not too icky). But it is because it is the only place at work or home where I get peace and quiet and concentrate for more than 5 minutes. Although, that can lead to marathon bathroom breaks. A co-worker texted me just last week and said, “Good Lord. Are you alive in there?” I was too embarrassed to confess and said I was texting someone.

One unfortunate thing about War Pinball HD is that if you were a little sick of Charlie Sheen this isn’t going to help since he was in two of the movies the tables are based on and there’s voice samples of him as well as his likeness.

War Pinball is very, very good. It’s by far the best pinball on the iPhone right now. And it has online leaderboards.

But yes, there is far too much Charlie Sheen in it. How absurd.

Angry Birds Rio is out. It’s basically just more of the same at this point, but it looks like the second episode (which is part of the initial release) will be quite different. The game has an update timetable included as well, it will be interesting to see if they keep up with it. I have really enjoyed updates coming every so often as a nice surprise, but I suppose Seasons will continue to give me that.
