Get at least one each of regen, spikes and blunting. More than one regen. Then you can simply stall (swipe through three skulls, no sword) and watch him whittle away.

Yeah I did just that on my last play though and managed to get level 9 woo!

Dungeon Raid is an example of a game in a genre I thought I was completely burned out on and ended up loving.
Trainyard is an example of a game in a genre I thought I was completely burned out on and it turns out I still am. I think that type of puzzle-y game is just not my thing. They got my $.99, too, though. :)
Mass board manipulation is what I’m using to get through. Dazzle (coins become swords) is an incredible skill, but I like Masochism (coins become skulls) better. The key step I’ve found is being able to hit as much of the board as possible, and both of those spells let you do it.
Early game, I prioritize upgrades such as Blunting and Luck. Blunting make sure that the skulls you don’t kill won’t deal constant damage to you, and Luck makes your healing matches count.
Thorn guys are rough. If the board’s relatively empty of skulls, I’ll try to match just enough swords to kill it, then heal up. Otherwise, I tank it with Blunting reducing the power to 1 and let whatever Spikes I’ve got kill it.
My personal mortal enemy is the Brute. Chucking skulls through armor to deal damage equal to their hit points gets me more often than the others.

Death Rally is really good. Cars, guns, and lite RPG elements.
Use the second camera setting though, the initial one is terrible.
I came in here to say basically the exact same thing. Excellent game, thanks for the recommendations.

It usually doesn’t cause me much trouble. Before letting your finger off the screen you can see how much spike damage you will receive. Plan accordingly to your HP and you will be just fine :) !
As for tips, I say get an “oh shit oh shit” skill like Teleport. When you see that you are fucked, it is always a nice plan B. As others have mentioned, prioritize Luck for that sweet sweet HP.
Also, skill allow you to make the board you bitch. Find a nice combo of skills and stick with it. I make a massive amount of coins appear and then turn them into skulls. So I have the luxury of getting gold or XP thanks to two simple skills.
You fourth skill should be offensive, like the x2 damage multiplier. Specials can be annoying, so dispatching them quickly is always a good thing!
This usually ends me if all of my get-out-of-jail cards are on CD (e.g. Banish, Teleport)
Death Rally will likely be next Tuesday’s “Weekly iCross” installment on the front page.
Are you positive?
I’ve only ever gotten Mage trophies as a Mage, and Paladin as a Paladin. My new classes have only ever been unlocked via Adventurer.
If it’s random, there’s a chance that could happen. But the odds of all three of my Adventurer trophies being new classes and all five of my “class” trophies being only upgrades to that class seem kinda slim to me.
Unless it’s a weighted sort of thing, and not fully random.
Edit: nevermind. I just unlocked the Rogue as a Mage. Of course, it might still be weighted or something.

Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars is coming to iOS.
If you’re not familiar with the title, it’s Julian Gollop’s latest game, which was a 3DS launch title. (He’s one of the brothers who made XCom).
It’s very good.
then I won’t tell you about my 2 22k + games ;) Pretty much every game I get the Enchant Item ability I play for a very long time. The ability is a bit too good. 950+ turns that last one. Played as Adventurer and in 2 games I unlocked all the classes, time to level them up.
Any hints or tips on the other classes?
Phew, that was almost making the 3DS look interesting for a while there. Looking forward to this!
Would be fun if it makes more money than the 3DS version.
So Nintendo can continue to bitch about cheap apps. :)
Man. I can’t get beyond 255 rounds and have only unlocked 2 classes and one extra level for one… how do you get trophies?
Oh,a nd can you switch races… like having A Tauren Hunter and a human thief?
ANd I’ve hit the wall on Tiny Wings. To get my 24x multiplier I need to get to island 4 without doing a single perfect slide… that is so completely opposite normal play, that I can’t do it.
Love both games, though.
It’s not that bad, just try and ride the hills and not get any air. Pretty much abuse the gravity.
trophies seem to come randomly when you kill special monsters. If you play a class other than adventurer each trophy is either a new class or a level in the class you are playing.
When you hit level 5 in a class it unlocks other races.

I have absolutely no interest in a 3DS, so this is good news indeed.
I’m already cursing you guys for introducing me to Dungeon Raid. My free time. My poor free time.
There’s a disappointing lack of qt3 players on my Forget-Me-Not leaderboards. This is clearly because too few of you realize just how awesome the game is, or you’re all playing that Dungeon Raid game or something. I’ve heard FMN described as a rogue-like Pac-Man but it’s more like a Pac-Man rogue-like.
