Would you gentlemen be so kind as to create your own thread for your stupid match-3 game?
Thanks!
OK, kids, I just blew a wad of cash on the Touch - the local Mac dealer only had the 64GB in stock, and lucky for him I had a weak moment - so dish up some games recommendations. (Although I’m still in that twitchy phase of spending more time downloading apps & games than actually using them, I assume I’ll calm down soon enough.)
What I gots: Angry Birds, Civ Rev, Space Invaders Infinity Gene, and Game Dev Story (which is adorable, by the way). I also tried a bunch of Capcom freebies like The Simpsons Arcade and Final Fight, but I’m not terribly fond of the on-screen arcade controls.

The soundtrack for Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP is now available on their website! I ordered the vinyl even if I don’t have a record player, the art is just too good to pass up. Plus They five the digital version with it, so I can enjoy the best soundtrack ever right now.
You can go listen to the tracks on Jim Guthrie’s Bandcamp. And if you are planning on getting it for iPhone, I strongly recommend a listen, because the music is such an awesome part of the experience! And the vinyls are part of a 1000 copy run, so don’t miss out!
All right, here’s my current list of iPod touch recommendations (from all kinds of different genres):
2360: Battle for Cydonia
Age of Zombies
Chainlink Pro
Cows vs Aliens
Death Worm
Defender Chronicles

Fruit Ninja
Galaxy on Fire 2
Galcon
GeoDefense & GeoDefense Swarm
GeoFighter Light Wars

Helsing’s Fire

Sword and Poker - A poker puzzle game. Best game I’ve played on my iPod Touch. You can get the first or second one. The second one is reportedly everything good in the first plus some extras. I went for the first one first because I figure I’ll end up playing both.
Doodle God - You start of with some elements, say fire, water and earth, then you combine two elements to create another. So fire and water would give you alcohol, fire and earth might give you clay. You keep creating new elements and these can be combined with all the other elements to make even more elements, etc. etc… The game is just figuring out which two elements go together. I really enjoy it when I have literally a minute or two to kill.

Here’s my short list. There are other games, but this is the “gun to your head” list of must haves:
This is my personal must-buy list. They are all iOS exclusives, and most of them will last you hours for a minimal investment. There are more of course, but this is my definite AAA must buys.
100 Rogues - An awesome top down rogue-like RPG. I bought this last week, and I regret not knowing about it before. Re playability is through the roof too.
Forget-me-not - It’s as if Pac Mqn got a sequel. A score attack game that seems familiar, but presents sweet twists’that keep it fresh.
Dungeon Raid - A match 3 game with an RPG meta-game. It isn’t like Puzzle Quest though, because you always see the board, and the enemies are just tiles. Easily one of my favourite games EVER.
Super Quickhook - Platformer where you need to use a grapple to go though levels. It is easy to control, and it has light RPG mechanics in the shape of an item store with upgrades.
League of Evil - It is like Super Meat Boy. Need I say more? Probably the best example for on screen buttons. The magic secret is that there is no momentum, so the controls are really tight.
Space Miner - I played the entire campaign when it came out and it took me 6 hours. Another shining example of virtual controls done right. Instead of a dpad or fake analog stick, it is a wheel that you steer. It is basically astroids with missions and an upgradable ship.
Super Mega Worm - You are a giant worm that need to eat people. You level up and become more destructive. Charming 8-bit style combined with hyper violence is always winning.
The Incident - Objects fall from the sky and you must tilt your iDevice to avoid them. Hard to explain the charm, but it is really good.
Infinity Blade - With the new content update, I have no trouble recommending it. Punchout with sword.
Rage HD - An on rails FPS with an awesome score and combo system.
Tiny Birds - This game is number one on the app store for a reason, it’s really good.

I Dig It and its sequel Expeditions shouldn’t be missing from anyone’s lists. For shame!

Neither of those lists include Uniwar, so they are not to be trusted. Slay is also a great strategy game.
It does seem to warrant its own thread so I have created one. Now to see if further talk there can convince me to get it!
I too fell victim to a sudden 64GB Touch purchase. So far I’ve been enjoying NBA Jam (no free trial but check it out on youtube if it’s in your field of interest) and the Cave bullet hell shooters. Both the shooters have a free trial - I’m too lazy to search out their names but search “cave ltd” in iTunes to get them, if you’re down with bullets.

Also, add me on Gamecenter madkevin.

Speaking of you guys with 64 GB models, I wish I’d bought one of those instead of a 32 GB. Books and software don’t take a lot of space, but music and (especially) movies sure do.

BTW, PopCap has created a new ‘division’ called 4th and Battery where we will release apps outside of our company’s typical scope. (i.e. we don’t care as much about them being big budget, being profitable, being family-friendly, etc.)
The first release will be a FREE and non-family-friendly game for iPhone called Unpleasant Horse, which should be live on the app store sometime in the coming days.
This pleases me, and the description for Unpleasant Horse sounds great! Glad to hear of a bit more creative outlet for the PopCap folk, beyond their normal addicting games.
A prediction:
If not Unpleasant Horse (which seems fantastic), then it won’t be long before some other 4th and Battery game makes every bit as much money as the “big” PopCap releases do.

So Unpleasant Horse is like Tiny Wings, but with pony murder? I’m down.
Select your pistol, then select your horse.

So pulled down dungeon raid free to give it a try. It’s fun. So what’s the main difference between the freebie and pay aside from the cheesements and unlockable classes?
Atari Greatest Hits just dropped. $15 for 99 Atari 2600 games, none of which I feel any desire to play anymore. Comes with Pong for free, which at this point is a disincentive.
EDIT: Make that 18 Atari arcade games and 92 2600 games, most of which are just good for making you wish Activision had done this.
