Thank you for this awesome tip. I now feel bad that I didn’t pay for RwK while I paid for Coin Drop (which is sort of fun but too random to be enjoyable).

Similar to Robot Wants Kitty is Biolab Disaster which might also still be free.

Is there any way to retain save data when you delete an app from your phone? Synching the apps doesn’t transfer save data. I’ve transferred an app, deleted it off my phone, then transferred it back and all save data was gone.

You can backup your entire phone, and restoring will bring back save data. But that restores the entire phone, you can’t selectively restore a single app.

That is so frustrating. I’m out of space on my phone, but I don’t want to lose these save games on current apps that are huge (dead space) because I haven’t finished it yet.

aargh

That Unpleasant Horse game is out. It’s free and a universal app. I hope it’s as fun as it looks!

It’s not bad! It is really not at all a Tiny Wings clone as people here thought. I can’t think of another game that had these mechanics, actually. The aesthetic is great, too. I just wish it had more of a goal, either different levels, or “quests” like Tiny Wings. Anyway, for free it’s great. They could have charged a buck, really.

I wish this game had box art so this could be the endorsement emblazoned on it.

WELL THEY COULD’VE

I have not tried this, so I can’t confirm that this works, but I read on another forum that if you delete the app in question from iTunes, connect your device (that has the app and saves on it) and do a “Transfer Purchases”, it will transfer the app to iTunes with the saves in place.

Like I said, I haven’t tried it personally, but you might try testing it with some free app.

Unpleasant Horse is really awesome.

I too would have paid a buck for it!

And more on the Order and Chaos MMO, it’s kinda awesome and also kinda a mess. There is a LOT of polishing that need to be done, and I doubt Gameloft will do the effort of supporting it…

Still, as any Gameloft game, it is mostly worth it for the “holy shit, this on my phone?” factor.

I will keep playing to see if this leads to anything.

132,730 unpleasant points and I think I’m done. Definitely a fun game and I’m looking forward to more from this label, but not a whole lot to it.

This video is all that is wrong with Order and Chaos Online and the overall iOS gaming community.

I didn’t watch, but I’m assuming racism.

The entire time I played last night involved 15-20 people all making incredibly insulting anti-Japanese comments because there were some people speaking in Korean on general chat.

Fucking ridiculous. Can you turn off that chat window, or leave the general channel? I couldn’t figure out how.

Well. That happened. At least it wad a very compact experience.

I’ll swim against the tide here and say that I found it perfectly apropos that Unpleasant Horse’s name on the springboard is “Unpleasant”, because I found it boring and crude.

Keep in mind the context for Unpleasant Horse. It was created as part of a 24-hour PopCap Game Jam.

It’s got that PopCap polish, but to quote Chuck Yeager, “A hamburger wrapped in gold is still a hamburger.”

Well, that’s why we’re giving it away for free on the label we’re calling our “experimental sandbox.” :)

We know it’s something of a throwaway, but we thought it would be fun to let people see some of the random stuff that gets created in the studio. We’re not claiming greatness. Just wanted to share extra stuff that normally doesn’t see the light of day…

And thank you for doing so. It’s just that despite the new label people still associate this with PopCap, which has made so many outstanding games that I guess I expected more even though it’s your cutting room floor material. I will now return to playing Plants Vs. Zombies and stay out of your business.

LOL :) Tracy, you can always be all up in my business.

And, yeah, we discussed this very issue at length. Some folks didn’t want this label to happen at all. Others wanted it 100 percent disassociated with PopCap–almost like an anonymous “indie” label. In the end, we liked the idea of both showing some transparency in terms of our “B sides” or random stuff, as well as giving the devs a chance to sort of “own” their own little projects while also working on our big, established franchises.

But, yeah, you’re right–the PopCap name carries a certain cachet–which is a good problem to have, of course–and what we’re doing here is a bit of a risk. We’ll keep evaluating it as time goes on…
