Monkey Preschool Lunchbox is my app (thanks for the plug, peterb). 2 to 3 is really the sweet spot for age on the game, once kids start pushing 4 they tend to find some of the games too simplistic. We’re in the midst of working a sequel which will be focused around early math, which I’m hoping we can still keep fun, it might be an impossible task.

I owe you big time, sir, as MPL has kept my youngest occupied (i.e. not screaming) at many an event. A million thanks!

My three year old likes angry birds and fruit nnja as games I like as well.

My 4 and 3 year olds love MPL and I’d dearly love to see something similar aimed at a slightly older audience. The sticker reward mechanic is a huge hit though, please keep that in there :)

Thanks for all the input folks, I’m gonna read up on all of them and probably do some purchases. Amazing what he gets into!

Just saw an announcement yesterday that OOTP (Out of the Park Baseball) is coming to the iPhone. Yay!

Yeah that looks really good. It looks like it should be out in the next few days.

Don’t get Deadspace for your kids. Had to remove it after it scared the crap out of them.

Well, yes. It is Dead Space, one of the most violent, dark, jumpy survival horror games out there.

That’s like saying ‘Don’t buy Anna Karenina for your five year old’.

I make sure the kids know which games on my phone are for me and which are for them. I’m thinking I may make a separate folder for mine.

Now this is a sports title I can get behind. Any word on if it’ll be universal?

Orbital is a favorite of mine, and simple enough for all ages. It’s a clone of a PC game called Gimme Friction Baby.

Apps have ratings by age. Turn on parental restrictions for the higher age stuff (like 17+) and then you’ll have to enter a passcode to load them.

For the record, the full iPhone version of Meteor Blitz is once again available on iTunes.

100 Rogues is free right now, so I’m going to give it a try.

Yep, it’s universal.

Anyone know if it is out yet?

Supposed to come out tomorrow but it won’t be universal with version 1.0 but they do plan on updating it to make it universal.

Our understanding is midnight Eastern time for iOOTP’s release.

iOOTP is awesome. Get it before they come to their senses and raise the price.

I have some interface niggles (why not a universal app? why can’t I change the screen orientation? why isn’t pitch count displayed on the field view screen?) and there are some minor bugs (players come down with [blank] injuries), but otherwise this game is all you would expect from OOTP. If you love baseball, $4.99 is a steal – especially if, as they have suggested, they are going to upgrade you to universal for free at a later point.
