I read a lot of good stuff about a DS game called Shiren The Wanderer… is there a similar game on iOS? I wish they would port that game to iOS.

I’m glad I checked out the page. They are releasing an iPhone version FIRST, then the enhanced iPad version will come out.

I don’t have an iPad so here’s looking forward to the iPhone one! w00t!

Infinity Blade ($2.99) and Chaos Ring ($3.99) are both on sale today. I ended up getting both.

I loved Shiren on DS. I’ve tried a few on iOS, but I’m picky about rogue-likes and none of them have grabbed me so far. You might have a look at 100 Rogues or Sword of Fargoal.

I’m guessing that if you bought every game that came recommended by hardcore gamer communities it’d take you 6 months to spend as much money as the cost of a single console game.

Not that a demo video wouldn’t be a nice thing.

The gentleman who coded Rogue Touch (I believe) is working on a title similar to Shiren called Spirit hunter Mineko.

I concur with the above statement, with the exception that I haven’t tried Sword of Fargoal due to the time limit factor. Is that real-time or in-game time?

Thank you! I was trying to remember the name of that one because it looked promising. I haven’t seen any updates in a while, but I just checked the website and it looks like he’s still hard at work on it. Mineko does indeed look great.

Bargain thread, Iphone/Ipad, not sure where this would go.

Infinity Blade and Chaos Rings are both on sale right now.

SoF is real time, but monsters move under a timed delay (eg. every 5 seconds). As you go deeper, the delay between moves for monsters decreases, and it can get quite frantic on the lower levels. SoF is my favourite rogue-like on the iPhone, but it’s an update of the old C64 game rather than specifically trying to be an all-round rogue-like. It has atmosphere in spades, it’s easily the most polished of the rogue-likes, but it doesn’t have the complexity some are looking for.

Orions, a Cool looking CCG that was around before the iPhone is on sale for $.99.

Also, an adaptation of Battle for Wesnoth from the PC to the iPhone is down $4.00 to $.99. Totally worth it for turnbased strategy goodness.

and I just bought the full priced Ipad version of Wesnoth not two days ago. Oh well.

I’m utterly addicted to this game and have been playing it for the last five hours. It’s deceptively complex.

There’s a cool new puzzle game out today called The Heist. It’s 60 puzzles where you are trying to crack open a safe. The puzzle types are “Traffic” sliding block puzzles, Sliding tile puzzles, Sudoku-like puzzles in a 5x5 grid, and Chips challenge block-moving puzzles. It’s really slickly put together, and when you finish the game you get a free Steam game (rollover for spoiler). $.99

I second that. There is a LOT of game there.

Has anybody played Neuroshima Hex? My friend and I are looking for another MP game. We currently play Carcassone. Would you recommend Neuroshima?

I have it and have yet to get around to it, but by all accounts here, it is terrific. About 100 pages back folks talk about it.

It’s fairly decent. I got tired of it somewhat quickly because the gameplay is very reactive, without much long term planning. There is a “lite” version available for free, that’ll give you a better idea of how it plays.

Ohh - just what I was looking for! Thanks!

On the most recent Jumping the Shark podcast Bill Abner calls Neuroshima his favorite app for the iPad.

I grabbed it today, haven’t played yet.

Ditto. It looks decent at 2x on iPad as well.
