FYI – Land of Legends is being ported to iOS right now. Hopefully it’ll be done by the end of the year.
I’ve played this on the iPad the past few days and it’s surprisingly solid, at least until you get up to about wave 50. There are tons of things to upgrade, and although you can pay real money for in-game coin they give you plenty of money to play around with just from completing waves. The difficulty ramps up pretty smoothly until, as said, you get to about wave 50 and Ash gets maxed out and even your best troops get popped like balloons.
Great graphics, lots of Army of Darkness flavor, and several options regarding what you want to focus on upgrading. I decided to pump the hero units at the expense of the standard units, and am currently completely stuck. If it’s still free there’s no reason not to grab it, but it really doesn’t have a lot of legs (and don’t be tempted to pay for in-game coin, as the amount you get from each wave ramps up substantially as the game progresses. You start with 50 coins from the first wave and eventually get more than 10,000 per wave. You also keep any coins you managed to pick up during a failed wave, so you can grind for a bit to upgrade your way past any sticking points).
Tracy, I think 50 might be the last one.
I’m currently at 30, and having a great time with it. I don’t normally care for tower/castle defense games but this one is a lot of fun. I’ve gotten killed a few times, but it is no big deal. The only regular unit I have upgraded is the soldier.

My son and I are both enjoying this game, I’m only on wave 11, he’s on 27. I’m only upgrading Ash and swordsmen so far. Nice little diversion, I’ve had much less fun with games I spent 4.99 on.
50 is the last one, but really, much thanks for posting that it was free!
I think that’s not a good idea because the start up cost of a hero is so high and you can only have one onscreen at a time. Given the number of Deadites, they don’t last very long.
A leveled Arthur lasts for quite a while with his 20k+ health. I can throw him up fairly quickly now that I have my smithy maxed out, and then start pumping out the fodder. I just need to focus on upgrading the fodder now so they last for more than one second.
That’s one way to solve it I guess. I just figured that in crunch situations when you need to get a guy out and you are low on mats, trying to get that Arthur out would really take a long time.
FYI the level 10 soldier has about 2k+ health so your Arthur would be more cost effective on a health basis, but since all attacks would now focus on him I’m not sure how that would pan out. Some attacks seem to hit groups of soldiers at a time, others are more specific (arrows I think).

Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery is on sale: iPhone $0.99 and the iPad (Universal one) $1.99.
I bought the iPhone one and didn’t finish it. Since my iPad 2 is coming soon, should I try this game again on the iPad?
Tumulus of Fen. New retro-style solo RPG. Sounds like it has a lot of nice features to it. Like as a fighter, you can study an opponent and learn a skill/move permanently.

So I was loving Wolfenstein RPG - great first-person turn-based dungeon-crawl feel to it had me pretty hooked. Then I got to a rail shooter section that felt completely out of place and frankly sucked. Why do developers feel the need to do this?
At least that section is over pretty quickly. If I remember correctly, you are approaching the end of the game.

My 10 year old son is kicking my ass in AOD. He’s at level 40 and I’m still in the 20s. He’s really wants to see the movie now!

I rage-deleted the game and have moved on to Undercroft. It’s really retro - a first-person, party-based RPG. I feel like I’m playing Might & Magic 3 again.

Funny you should mention Might & Magic 3, as I actually just started replaying it on iPad. It’s one of the few games I’ve tried so far that actually runs well in iDos, and it’s still great.
Undercroft is pretty decent. And free.

If anyone is playing Tiny Towers and wants to compare the size of our, ahem, towers, feel free to friend me on Gamecenter. “Tyjenks”. Or just friend me in general.
The retro pixelated look in Tiny Tower made my eyes bleed.
