Interesting… it shows up as $4.19 here.

I’ve been playing Majesty on iPad, can’t imagine the interface on the iPhone, it’s fiddly enough on the big screen.

I do wish the game had a better manual, I’m not clear on exactly how the flag system works and there’s not much in the way of in game help.

I agree. I installed it on my iPad, and I can’t imagine how hard it would be to play on an iPhone/iPod Touch.

Regarding the flags… it’s pretty much double tap anywhere you want to place a flag. The game is mostly smart enough to know based on where you’ve tapped whether you want to place an “attack” flag or a “scout” flag. Then, once the flag is down, set the amount of the bounty you want on the box to the left, then click the checkmark.

I say that game is “mostly” smart enough, because occasionally when I’m setting down a new building, I tap too many times and manage to put an attack flag on MY OWN building, which makes no sense. I had trouble figuring out how to remove it, because if you tap away from it, you can’t just tap OR double tap the flag to reselect it. Turns out you need to double click the building it’s on to bring the flag up… then click the “X” to remove it.

As you said, it’s a bit fiddly. I also have trouble selecting my heroes quickly enough to cast a spell on them to protect them (heal or invisibility) before it’s too late. :/

That link shows $4.19 for me too, but when I searched it on the App Store on my iPad, it actually came up at $2.99. Also, I couldn’t find it in the App Store using “Majesty” as the search term. I typed in “Majes” then searched and it came up. Weird.

$4.19 because link is a nz-appstore link.

Anyone trying out Majesty on the iphone? Love me some Majesty, but if the controls are really going to be that much of a pain, I’ll pass.

There are structures in Majesty that are technically friendly but that you may wish destroyed, like the Gambling House.

The text in FFT is so small and hard to read it made me think I need bifocals. I’ve had an eye exam in the last year, and I don’t need bifocals. I would hold off for the Ipad version if anyone is on the fence.

Good to hear. I DO have bifocals, and one thing I have issue with with handheld games sometimes is text…

I would like to defend some towers. What’s the latest and greatest in the genre? Defender Chronicles was the last one I really got into—I enjoyed being able to grind a little bit and improve when I got stuck. Any recommendations?

Have you played Army of Darkness Defense? It’s a lot of fun.

I never really cared for the movies, is it still worth it even if—Oooh, free. Sold.

You’ll wish you’d paid for it. It’s great while it lasts.

Yep! Hard to argue with the price. And the game is really fun! Post back here and we’ll give you some tips for beating it if you need them.

My 22 month old has been loving Monkey Lunchbox, thanks for the tip! He can do all of the challenges on his own now and it’s simple enough he can’t make mistakes (like clicking on a menu button) that would confuse him. Thanks!

I’m playing a new game I saw on TA called Zombie Minesweeper and am loving it so far. You run about a field and numbers appear on nearby squares as you move, just as they would in traditional minesweeper. Movement is free, not grid based, and movement takes some getting used to. At first I was trying to hold my finger down and slide to mve, but it is way too easy to hit mines that way. Tapping on the square you want to go to works much better in areas that aren’t explored yet.

As you would expect, you can mark where mines are, then it keeps you from triggering them accidentally. After the first couple of levels, increasing numbers of zombies start showing up which you must avoid. They move in real-time, it isn’t turn-based. I was nervous about this, because I prefer slow and methodical games, but there seems to be very little penalty for dying other than affecting your score.

You pick up bombs and other items you can kill zombies with along the way to the end of each level. The levels end at a plunger, and any mines you have marked (that haven’t already been tripped by zombies) explode, sending any nearby zombies to joyous oblivion.

The game is universal. I’m playing on iPad. Regular price appears to be 4 dollars but the launch sale has it at a dollar. I find the graphics to be quite nice, certainly for a game you would pay a dollar for. It looks like there are about 30 levels, so not the longest game you will play.

I beat the game but was annoyed on how hard it is to grind the achievements afterwards. You only get a small amount of gold in survival mode (at least I don’t last long enough to get more than a few K of gold). I need a ton of money to fully upgrade all the stuff. Seems like the easiest way to do it would to be to reset the game and go back through the campaign a few times which I didn’t want to do.

Really well done game though, even if you don’t like the movies. If you like the movies the sound bites in the game make it better.

With the right combination of troops, you can play Endless mode basically forever. I was getting 100K+ before I got a little burned out. Still haven’t upgraded everything.

Very fun game - I wish I’d paid for it. How are they making money with it? Seems like the license alone would have been expensive…

Yup, with the right mix I was able to let the game play itself forever on endless. Basically, I had the enemy pushed all the way to the right at the gate. I parked ash there and just left it on. The only issue is I had so many troops built the game ran at a crawl. I’ve now maxed everything in the game. It was great fun while it lasted.

Been playing a silly little jousting game called Shake Spears! for the last couple of days. It’s pretty simple, you control your shield with your left thumb and your lance with your right, but it still manages to be an ideal one to five minute time killer. While many of the non-boss enemies you fight are just the same guy repeated, you can get a lot of mileage out of the spells you can use each fight (sometimes actual spells, sometimes technological devices like ‘spurs’ that make your mount faster so you hit harder) and can upgrade your armor. It’s pretty simple, there’s not a lot of customization, each set of armor has its own look but is a full kit consisting of an upgrade to your armor, horse, lance and shield, so you can’t decide what to focus on or anything like that. I imagine I’ll get bored of it fairly quickly, but I picked it up for $.99 (it’s $1.99 now, I think) and as with Zombie Gunship (which I’ve also gotten bored of) I definitely got my buck’s worth out of it.

OK, what is this magical combination? I’ve been bringing in my boomshot, the car-copter thingy for Ash. Troops are usually Arthur(maxed), heavy knights, Archers and TORCH BOOOOOOYYYYYYY
