Just to confirm guys, the game will NOT be included in your pledge, you will have to buy it separately. The 25 USD only get you what is listed on the page.

That was understood from the beginning. At least for me.

Me too, I just got asked by others and some posting here seemed to indicate people believe they get the game with their pledge. That made me unsure and so I thought I would go clarify it.

Major thumbs up from me for Tiny Heroes, from the guy who mafe GeoDefense. TA review and videos here:

He’s expanded to s bigger art team and I like where they are headed!

Tiny Heroes sounds just like the proper evil dungeon master game I’ve been waiting for!

That’s not really what we’re talking about though.

There is no system in place for a developer to give away their game at their discretion, whereby give away we mean at no cost other than the potential loss of a sale. A limited number of promo codes can be generated (the specifics of which I’ve forgotten), which can cover some small things like giving out review copies, test copies, or a few twitter giveaways or something, but there’s no way for them to give away copies to everyone who’s supporting the game through Kickstarter.

If they were to gift someone the app from iTunes, that would mean they first pay full price for every copy they give away, and then receive back only the 70% of the sale they receive from any other app purchase. That would be a terrible way to handle it.

How fast do price changes kick in? Would it be possible to charge, say, $4.99 for a Kickstarter copy, price the app at $.99 temporarily to gift it, then jack the price up to $4.99 immediately after all the gifting is done?

Not really, no. I don’t know the exact turnaround time, but it’s not like, minutes. It would be a pretty sloppy workaround that would certainly cost them at least a little money from other people purchasing it at $.99, plus $.30 of each copy they gift. edit: Plus some confusion at best, and more likely ill-will from the apparently funky price hike, word of which will surely out-pace the convoluted explanation across the internet.

I think they best thing they can do is just be upfront about it on KickStarter: There is no practical way to include the game in your pledge, so you shouldn’t be pledging if you’re not already willing to purchase the game yourself.

Enjoying Tiny Heroes so far, it’s really Plants Vs. Zombies with a Dungeon Keeper like theme. If that sounds like a combo you’d like, they did it pretty well.

I remember it being hard to find but I figured it had to exist. It just generates a code and sends it to an email you specify. It will even let you expire a code if you send it to the wrong email address like I did.

Unfortunately, (at the time, maybe it has changed) it didn’t let you do the same thing with books.

Got a thmbs up from Ars too:

So, after the raves, I picked up AoD, on a free day sale. I hate tower defense games, but the take on this made it incredibly enjoyable. Thing is, though, in one night and one morning I got up to the final level, tried it about 20 times and gave up. I really had no desire to try again or replay it. But it was definitely forth $0.00.

So now, I am debating Tiny Heroes. It looks and sounds different enough that it may be a game I could enjoy, too. However, if I only get about 6 or 7 hours of it, I will probably wait for a sale.

It’s $3
That said, anyone know if it’s HD for ipad or just zoomed?

I have no troubles about paying $3 for a game that I’m pretty sure I’ll like. Even if only for 6-7 hours, as Tyjenks says. It’s the number of games that I won’t like at all, not even for a few minutes, that usually make me hesitate about iPhone game purchases.

Tiny Heroes does look pretty good. The main thing that’s stopping me right now isn’t price, it’s my backlog.

Amazingly, Apple just approved this: http://www.phonestory.org/

It’s a game about smartphone manufacturing where you get to do things like force children to mine minerals at gunpoint. Get it while it’s hot.

They should make a game about using the artistic style of another more popular series and giving your game a similar name to the same more popular series so as to score your shitty minigame-collection-as-social-message a few more sales due to market confusion.

Phone Story Story?

Too late, it’s gone.

Seems like it’s not. Quite hard to find out this simple bit of info!

From the TA link above:

iPad users are currently out of luck, but according to the developers an iPad version is planned. It’s expected to have it’s own set of levels that take advantage of the extra screen real estate, so it should be worth the wait.
