I think it was meant to be a plan-test-debug game. There are only a few dozen maps, and you’re not supposed to win them on the first try. One of the buildings also lets you preview upcoming waves so you can plan better.

As soon as I can play those Armor games on my iPhone, I’ll do so.

Still undecided about Staunch Defense but Tactical Warrior is seriously awesome. I love pitting my two stalwart monks against hordes of coyotes and stone-throwing badgers!

I got Karate Champ. It’s pretty much like real arcade Karate Champ, but I’ve had to learn not to “lean on” the joysticks the way I did as a lad, because if I do my thumbtips slide right off the touchscreen.

My head almost exploded with nostalgia overload when I first saw Karate Champ. I got it when it first came out and it was a little tetchy. The last upgrade made it smooth.

Reminds me of all those nights I spent playing against co-workers in a bar when I was supposed to be cleaning elevators at the WTC.

Thanks foor the Tactical Warrior tip. Have not played yet, though.

I got Tiny Heroes…meh. Not enough change from the regular Tower Defense formula for me.

I seem to recall reading that this is a problem with Kairosoft’s “Story” business simulations in general, that they’re too much aimed at the casual gamer who wants an automatic victory while appearing to require decisions. I don’t know if that’s true, since this is the first “Story” game I’ve played.

Mega Mall Story is definitely the easiest game they’ve made, but generally they are pretty easy and even more so after your first run. To be fair to Kairosoft’s other games, most of them have some sort of late game challenge which for some reason is entirely missing in MMS. You might want to check out Pocket Academy, which I found the hardest Kairosoft title, but that’s possibly because I didn’t entirely get the mechanics (particularly how to unlock certain key rooms).

In case it hasn’t been mentioned before, Legendary Wars is free right now. It looks good and, hey, free.

Even though I’m sure everyone here has played it, Eric Chahi’s classic “Another World” is out for the iPhone.

This version has new graphics as well as new difficulty settings, and a new touch interface. Looking forward to it.

The full version of Staunch Defense is currently free.

This is free right now.

Got it, thanks for the heads up.

Iootp has an update out that fixes two of my biggest issues: universal support (looks awesome on iPad now) and orientation support (so I can finally hold my iPad the way I want). Still no pitch count displayed on the field screen, but that’s quibbling. I am now starting over the 2011 season and will get the Bosox into the playoffs where they belong!

There are a lot of games on sale right now. Notable ones are Pigs in Trees, Sigma, and Eliss for free.

Fifa 12 is pretty amazing, at least to me, that you can even have that kind of game on a phone. However, I completely suck at the control system. Also - how do you turn off the menu music? I can’t find a way to get to options for that.

So Starbase Orion comes out in a day or so. MoO2 style game with PBM style play. Seems like something QT3 folks should keep an eye on

Yeah I am really looking forward to this one.

The boardgame Zooloretto has dropped in price to $.99. This is the first sign of life from this app in over a year. I don’t know if this means that they’re finally going to do something with it, maybe put out some more expansions or something, or if they’re just trying to get max cash out of it before dumping the license.

Either way, it’s a good implementation of a fun game, though it only supports hotseat multiplayer.
