Plants vs zombies is very good, as is zombi gunship.
Also you cant go wrong with Space Miner HD, its RPG Asteroids with a properly hilarious script.
Definitely get Ascension if you liked MtG. Its mechanic is loosely on the ‘drafting’ tournament type from MtG, and it’s a brilliant game.
Also King Cashing is free at the moment; fun game.

It does look interesting, but as I just bought Assassin’s Creed: Recollection I think I’ll have to pass on this game, it just doesn’t seem my type of game. I prefer having the ability to make my own deck. I may reconsider in the future.

Ascension looks really neat, and I wanted to pick it up, but my iPhone 3g apparently can’t play it, because it gave me an error when I tried to purchase it. :/
I broke down. I bought Ascension. I played the tutorial…then broke down further and bought the expansion.
Woohoo, The Carcassonne expansion update is out. River for a buck, Inns & Cathederals for $2. Also has an option to play without the ability to see remaining tiles or X marks. Nice!

bummer they didn’t bundle them all up for like $2.50!
Yeah, those five dimes are a real stopper for me. What do they think, that I’m made of dimes? I need that to eat! I’m so poor I probably shouldn’t own an iPhone.
the whole point of the game is that you ARE making a deck ;)
Yeah I know. I picked the game up, and I’m loving it so far ;). I’d still love a game where I make my own deck from cards I collected from packs, but this has a certain addictive quality to it. I got thoroughly trounced in the matches I played in the new years league here, and was still having fun.

You are able to make your own deck from cards you collect from packs. Have you visited the in-app store yet? That’s where you get the packs (you have 500 e-bucks to start with, once you’ve completed the tutorial).
Crossed wires. We are talking about ascension now

Kinectimals for iPad: better than on Kinect.
Silversword was recently released, and basically looks exactly like the above. I haven’t tried it yet, but it looks perfect.
I was about to complain bitterly about the thuddingly uneuphonious version of Omar Khayyám that introduces that trailer, but googling reveals to me that it’s a direct lift from an inscription in one of the Bard’s Tales. I’ll forgive them that. :>

How’s that new Ravenmark game? I’m intrigued because it’s apparently a meaty turn-based strategy RPG with good writing. Any other impressions?

I would not call the writing good, but it’s passable. As a turn-based strategy game, I think it’s fantastic. You can combine individual units into formations that give you certain bonuses at the cost of maneuverability, which combined with limited commands per turn makes for some really difficult decisions.
Props to 2K Games for still supporting Civ Rev on the iPhone with version 2.2.8 update:
Today we have some exciting news: Civilization Revolution has been updated on both iPhone and iPad!
Many new features have come to iOS since we released CivRev over 2 years ago, and this update takes advantage of them. Among the improvements are:
iCloud Support
You can save your game directly to your iCloud storage and continue your game on any other iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad. The best part? You can even save your game on your iPhone and continue it on your iPad!
Game Center Achievements
CivRev is now a GameCenter game, enabling you to compare your achievements with friends.
Visual Improvements
The visual quality of the game has been increased across the board. Improved terrain textures, new resource icons, improved unit icons, and animated map features are some of the improvements you may notice.
Scenario Generator for iPhone
No longer exclusive to the iPad version, you will now be able to create your own scenario challenges on your iPhone version of the game.
Initial impressions are very positive. Presentation is great and it has some really interesting game mechanics. Looking forward to playing it more. Oh and the price is going up after Christmas, so get it now.

I updated my app… but don’t see the in game purchase. Can’t seem to find any info out there. Has anyone bought the add on with/for an ipod touch 3rd gen? as that’s the only limiting factor I can imagine.
