Hm, I could have sworn I told you guys this a page or two back, but my post apparently got smaller somehow.

Can you comment on how this compares Aralon? I realize Aralon is not turn-based and has different production values, but which one is more immersive and/or has more content?
Nope, sorry. I’ve never played Aralon and in fact don’t think I’ve even heard of it. But personally I find the iPod Touch interface frustrating for gaming, so any game that’s in real-time automatically loses points.
Also Undercroft is a great old-school style RPG

Can anyone recommend a tower defense game like the Creeps? I loved that game but played the hell out of it.

Kingdom Rush is a great TD game.
Unstoppable Gorg is ok, not great gameplay but great production values.

I just found Elf Defense which looks very Creeps like.
Rune Raiders looks kind of interesting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjbaGfEMJFk&feature=player_embedded
Seems like sort of a strategy puzzle rpg.
Starbase Orion had a big update yesterday. Added several techs, the ability to have computer players in multiplayer, and a bunch of other things.

It’s quite the update. Who’s up for a multiplayer game? Imma go start a thread!

This one is already finished and approved by Apple, but they are awaiting some sort of PR effort before launch. Looking forward to it.

Are there any good bridge (ie the card game) games on the iphone?
ah I see that Bridge Baron is available. Pity its $25!
Ok, it is announced and on the way. So then, if I may ask advice again, what is a good memory size to get? I will likely use it mostly as a gaming platform with some movies and books along with a decent amount of family photos/movies. With the new retina display will there be more higher resolution games, and thus more need for space?
32gig? 64gig?

The only reason to go 64GB that I’ve found is if you have lots of video on the iPad. But given that it can show 1080P videos at full resolution, if you’re doing movies, it’s probably worthwhile.
FWIW, I have 3.9GB free on my 64GB iPad 2, but I have a crapload of big issues of Wired magazine, a bunch of movies and TV shows for both me and my kid, and a crapload of free games I still need to try.

I have the 32 and have found it to be a really good size.
One of the reasons I’ll update to the new iPad is that my 32GB iPad 2 is pretty much full all the time, and I don’t have any movies. I do have tons of apps, magazines and comic books though.
What is this iPad nonsense! Let’s get back to some iPhone games…
Ziggurat- destroy endless waves of bouncing aliens trying to topple you, very damned hard but compulsive
Gridrunner- excellent reimagining of Jeff Minter’s greatest hour, although occasionally your finger obscures the ship amidst the chaos
Retro Racing - probably my favourite top-down racer on the app store, simple graphics but finely tuned
Jenga- an iOS version of a physical block balancing game? What could possibly go wrong? Um, actually it’s not bad, and free right now.
Adventure Bar Story was released last night. It’s a JRPG where you level up by creating recipes and eating the food that you make. You buy some of the more mundane ingredients in town, but the rest come from dungeon crawling. As far as I can tell, money is made by running your restaurant selling off the food that you make as well.
I only put about 20 minutes into it and I normally loathe JRPGs but this one is unique enough that it seemed worth the 99 cent purchase. The fact that you can save anywhere puts it miles ahead of its brethren.
I wanted to try out the Mass Effect game (Infiltrator?) but it’s $7 freaking dollars. Ugh. Anyone know if games that are big like that ever go on sale in a timely fashion?
EA puts their iOS games on sale fairly often. But since ME3 is just out, I’d imagine its going to be awhile for that one.
