I made a Neuroshima Hex league for May! It’ll only be a week or so long, but it will help us iron out wrinkles. Send me a PM if you’re interested in playing, and let me know your Neuroshima Hex nickname!

We’ll start a new league in June if there’s interest.

Looks like it’s going to be a big week for the App Store deals.

Rebuild just dropped to $.99. EA has just dropped the prices for a number of their games (Dead Space and Burnout: Crash for instance are only $.99 right now), and the Indie “Because We May” sale is supposed to start tonight and it will have a number of games on sale.

I was going to come tell you about Oh! Cube because it was on sale for $.99, but it’s actually free today, so you don’t even need to read the rest of this if you’re quick!

If it costs money again by the time you read this, I’m sorry I didn’t mention it earlier in the day, but it’s basically a 3D picross game. I’m aware that there was an actual 3D picross game on the Nintendo DS, which I sadly have not played, so I can’t say how it compares directly. I’ve always enjoyed the picross games in all forms though, and this is no exception. I’m still on the simpler puzzles, but it’s already enough to scratch $.99 worth of my picross itch.

It’s not perfect. On the iPhone, it can be a little maddening to get it to register your taps on the cubes. Perhaps this is less of a problem on the larger iPad screen, but it’s definitely an occasional nuisance on the phone. The positive spin would be that I’ve never accidentally tapped a cube I didn’t intend, so it’s never penalized me in the game.

Anyway. Picross! Go!

The June league for Neuroshima Hex has begun! It’s never too late to join in.

If you want to get a feel for the game, Justin Fletcher and I are playing a narrated exhibition match.

If you are a fan of the Tiny Tower style games of NimbleBit, they launched Pocket Planes today. It’s much the same, but includes some new complexities.

I’ve created a Flight Crew called QT3, if you guys want to pool efforts. I think we can win prizes or something.

Sorry for the duplicate. Tapatalk is acting up.

I signed up. It’s not always clear what’s happening. I had a plan on the ground that I loaded, but it stayed in “boarding” status for a long while with no indication of what I couldn’t fly it. Did you notice the coins that fly by when you’re watching a plane? You can tap them for some quick bucks.

I did notice the coin thing. Bigger coins are worth more, which is cute. I also see that they don’t prevent you from being stupid with your airport expansion. There’s a disaster in Calgary, so i was curious and unlocked that city as my first new airport. Now many medical supplies and personnel need to go there, but it’s out of range of my most upgraded plane. I finally raised enough money for Winnipeg to unlock, which means I can get there using that airport as a hub. For a while I was kinda screwed. Don’t make my mistake!

Is Pocket Planes more of a game than Tiny Tower was?

I’d say about 10% more game there. The fundamentals are the same, though. The underlying game is time management and clicking.

I started in Nairobi and have unlocked Mombasa, Zanzibar, Harare, Kananga, Mahajanga, and Lilongwe. They’re all pretty close. I haven’t seen any notices about disasters or anything, but I have transported 3-4 Alien Artifacts to Mombasa from other locations… hmmm…

I did the same by accident by unlocking Hilo HI… Thankfully you can close an airport. You get some of your money back.

Any wisdom about whether it’s “worth it” to save up to unlock bigger cities, or does # of cities trump quality?

Just picked this up and started messing around with it. How do I join the QT3 flight crew?

Hit Menu, then Flight Crew, then enter QT3 as the name. It took a while for it to update the stats for me – still doesn’t show the “Jobs by you” stat.

Speaking of which – when I pick up cargo and passengers that have green names, are they part of the Global Event?

Green means you get bux instead of coins. I believe blue names are part of the global event, but I’m on the wrong continent for this one so I haven’t seen any.

Thanks, signed up! And I’m in Europe, so no calgary event for me either.

Note that I think it might treat “qt3” and “QT3” as different even though they look the same. I did the latter and I seem to be on a 3-person team with Ephraim.

Do we need an iOS thread instead of the two iPhone and iPad threads? I am going a little bonKy trying to decide which thread to use to post something new.

One suggestion (by Chaplin) is to place iPad or iPhone only when that is the case ( which seems to be happening less and less).

I’m game. Here’s my attempt at unification.
