yeah, I am a kind of modest person ;)

Really? I found I Dig It: Expeditions to be pretty difficult to start, but the first really didn’t give me any problems like that. Just upgrade your fuel tank and heat resistance as soon as possible, and they become exponentially more effective.

Blimp - The Flying Adventures is free today, and Touch Arcade had some good things to say about it.

btw, anyone have any impressions of Pac-man CE?

I was just about to buy this, when I noticed that the actual cost of the game is $7, not $3. There’s a 3.99 in-app purchase ‘expansion pack.’

I don’t get why everyone’s complaining about this, because the base download has easily as much (and possibly more, I’m hazy) content than the XBLA version. I never played anything other than the basic Championship mode on 360 anyway.

Not everyone cares about having hundreds of maps, so the pricing structure makes sense to me - more sense than launching something like Pac-Man Remix at 10 bucks and then playing the race-to-the-bottom sales game, at least.

So, impressions? If you like Pac-Man CE as much as I do, the base version is totally worth picking up. Controls are about as good as you could hope for, and the game looks and sounds the same (though it’s weird to see it so small).

Agreed, Sam. Giving consumers more options in how much content they purchase seems like a good thing, imo. If the extra content is worth it to you, then buy it. If it isn’t, then don’t.

I would much rather them release the game this way than just charge $7 for everything.

Oh sorry that’s my misunderstanding, I thought $7 got you the same as what was in the XBLA version.

Is there some secret voodoo to the AppStore updates that I don’t understand? Some games and apps just refuse to update, and others take about 3 or 4 attempts before they’ll update successfully. Also, can you ignore updates? Or more accurately, dismiss them?

Yeah, I don’t know. Some of my apps take a few updates to actually update for real too, and it seems to be pretty random.

As far as I know, there is no way to dismiss updates, but you can ignore them. The apps don’t update automatically.

Tom I just added you on openfient and you played a hell of a game called Must.Eat.Birds. What the heck is up with that?

Also we need an openfient thread for people. Feel free to add me MarcusQT3.

I give it at least a thumb up as it is the only TD out there I know of with an option for RANDOMIZED SURVIVAL where you see how long you can last against endless waves of random (yet always increasingly difficult) baddies. Why don’t more TD game do this?

Doodle Jump is an awesomely addictive little game.

Do we have Open Feint IDs posted anywhere?

I’ll gladly offer up mine, “LordGek”…anybody else bold enough to list theirs here

(I figure it isn’t like giving out an email address is it, as far as needing to be careful nasty people don’t get a hold of it?)

18,064 is my high score.

Surely no different to any other gamertag? You can safely add mine, which is my qt3 username.

Red Conquest! is out, from the guy who made Blue Attack/Blue Defense which were both good games, this one is apparently a RTS. Haven’t seen a gameplay video of it yet though so unsure if I’m going to buy it.

Oh, did Tom start playing Must.Eat.Birds? At the end of the podcast he recorded with me, he asked for my favourite iPhone games. I mentioned the usual suspects (i.e., UniWar) and then threw in Must.Eat.Birds and Frenzic.

It certainly looks interesting. Visually, it reminds me of a hands-on version of Gratuitous Space Battles transplanted into an RTS with Blue Attack aesthetics.

So… totally fucking awesome?

I dunno, I was hoping you’d buy it first and tell us. Actually, I was on the verge of getting it and then… megaton! I discovered Tom had beaten my geoSpark high score. Well, I just had to drop everything there and then to correct this gross miscarriage of justice. Unfortunately, it’s still being miscarried.

More Red Conquest videos. I still have Blue Defense in my backlog, though.

In other news, over 1,000 apps were pulled by Apple because the developer (Molinker) was found to manipulate app store reviews! Good thing nobody pays any attention to them anyway.
