Yeesh. It seems like every game I buy either ends up 99 cents or free eventually.
Wouldn’t be so bad if I’d actually, you know, gotten around to playing them BEFORE that happened.
AppVentCalendar has helped me discover my iPhones 11-screen app limit. ;)
I hope this means they are working on a sequel.

Apparently you can add more apps to the iphone, and then launch them using the search page.

Here is what I do:
I currently have 14 full pages of apps. For pages 12-14 I take screenshots in itunes while my phone is connected to the pc. It’s the screen where you can rearrange your apps. Crop the screenshot so it’s exactly what you would see on your iphone (win 7 paint works just fine for this). Drop the images into a dropbox folder. Use your dropbox app on the iphone to virtually fake browse pages beyond 11. That way you know what is installed and what to search for in spotlight.
The major drawback is I don’t think I can actually delete any apps after page 11 directly on the iphone. Any better solutions out there?
I keep hoping someone releases an app launcher app, but there must be some law against doing so from Apple. It’s bad enough not being able to arrange things in folders or tabs, but putting that arbitrary page limit on there is Apple at its most ridiculous. Even a “recently downloaded” link on the App search page would be a godsend.

If you jailbreak your phone, there is a free app in the Cydia/Rock stores that allow you to make folders.

Chris, I really would just go ahead and play 7 Cities on Hard.
Apple is just stupid with its approvals. We have a window in our apps which just opens a web page for promoting our other titles. We used some native controls for this purpose but we decided we’d theme them slightly by using different colours for button highlights. We were told we weren’t permitted to change the colours of the controls if we used the library versions. But it was ok if we wanted to make our own which looked identical and we could theme however we wanted. We all boggled at that because there’s absolutely no way a user could know if those buttons were recoloured apple’s or our own.
No jailbreak for the iPod Touch 3rd generation, yet.
For a company that spends so much time thinking about UI design, the “flatland” approach of the iPhone / touch is remarkably myopic and outdated.

You guys really should be using Linux.

The guys who made Uniwar have come out with a new action game called The Inferno. It seems to be getting good user reviews. Check it out here.

Between this and Solium Infernum, it’s a hellish holiday season, for sure!
I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, but the video looks like they took every frustrating controller-throwing gameplay element from the 80s and built an entire game out of them.
Are you certain? blackra1n says it supports all devices.
Edit: Just checked, looks like it’s a tethered jailbreak for the third generation.

Yeah, that looks frustrating to me.
That’s not so bad. I wasn’t aware there was even a tethered one.
Slight rant: I hate having to deal with software from an entity with a pretentious text-speak name, but that’s pretty much de rigueur for jailbreak apps.
You can get the first 50 levels for free today only.

I finally sat down and tried Nova briefly.
It’s basically halo for you iphone down to a female AI construct and recharging shield. Controls are about as good as you can expect. Increasing the sensitivity helps quite a bit. The virtual left stick is a bit small but other than that it works as good or even better than modern combat: sandstorm. Weapons feel good and the graphics look great running at a very smooth framerate (3gs).
So far this is the closest feeling I’ve had playing a modern fps on a hand held.

The free version of Battle for Wesnoth was just released. I believe it has the latest patch to improve the performance. I have it installed, but have not tried it yet.

It has the latest patch? I have the full version, and i just checked for a patch and found none. It hasn’t been patched since release.
