Rise of the Triad is getting an iPhone port.
Yep, I bought Space Miner and it doesn’t disappoint. In fact, the more I try and save money by not buying any more freakin’ games, the more they keep coming. I succumbed to Vector Tanks Classic for $0.99 which is a great version of Battlezone. I see Doom II RPG (from the Wolf RPG team) has also just been released - bastards!

DOOM 2 RPG! Holy crap that is awesome. I didn’t even know that was coming out.
I’ve played Orcs and Elves on my DS and WolfRPG on the iPhone, and absolutely loved both of them. I always wanted to play DoomRPG, but never had a phone that supported it.
Now I get to play Doom RPG 2. Woo
Yes! About time on the Doom RPG. Also, I wonder what the initial price point will be for Plants vs Zombies. Oh how my mind numbing daily meetings would just fly on by with PvZ on my iPhone…I’d easily pay over 10 bucks for PvZ.

Space Miner kept me up past 2am last night. A ton of fun so far and loving unlocking more just to equip my little junk heap with.

On the medium difficulty, Doom2 RPG is freakin’ hard. Really fun though.
One thing I didn’t realize until the third level is that you have to actually “use” the flak jacket from your inventory to get armor points. DOH!

doom 2 has classes, a scientist, a marine and a sergeant. the scientist is smart, the sergeant is agile and the marine is strong and can soak up damage.
so far, i’ve not yet seen how any class but the marine is effective as it’s so far just shoot take damage shoot take damage shoot take damage shoot. no real variety there, though i’ve only played about half an hour or so
it looks and controls as well as wolfenstein rpg and it’s got more interactive elements than that game. here terminals tell stories you can interact with computers. it’s pretty fun, but there’s nothing really revolutionary about it just yet.

Yeah, same here.
Pity the game’s so short, though – I played it a bunch today because I was home sick from work, and I’ve already finished it.
There’s a New Game+ option, but I don’t really want to just play through the same content all over again.

I started playing the new Fighting Fantasy - Warlock of Firetop Mountain game last night, the first of what presumably will be many releases. Damn good, although some of the animations slow the game down too much and it’s awfully slow to launch, a cardinal sin for an iPhone game IMO. The memories are flooding back (I still have my books from 28 years ago!) and it’s neat to know that such a game is still fun to play. I do wish there was a way to create or auto fill out a map, but you can’t have it all.
Now, WTF at Doom and Wolfenstein (not the RPG versions) not being available in New Zealand? Shafted, again (I’m looking at you Civ Rev).

I really don’t like it to bother you with marketing my own game, but I love the red Beethovens… they represent your local highscore.
If you like Beethoven’s music (string quartet opus 131) you might want to check out the lite version…

Have you played on hardcore? If not, you will want to play the same content again.
Some things are randomized as well, such as ships in sectors with components and alien tech.
Also, when you new game+, you can skip all the cutscenes.

Sounds like there is more than just the first 8 alien techs as well that you can pick up. I’m replaying on Hard, and then I’ll go potentially for a hardcore game, or a run with just the initial junker for the achievement.
There’s a new update out now that addresses all that and then some.

Hmm. I haven’t, so I might give it a try later. No shortage of new iPhone games to play, though – today the time I spent waiting for compiles at work was eaten by Heavy Mach 2, which is pretty good but oddly unpolished.
