iPhone SDK

The latest version of the beta SDK includes Interface Builder.

Doesn’t have much documentation on how to make it work with the iPhone, but after googling and fiddling I have gotten an IB app to work where I can press a button and the text on a label changes, where the only code I’ve really written was the IB definitions and the actual “change text” code.

Beats the crap out of handcoding the UI objects instantiation.

Well, if iPhones go 3G they’ll need a new battery for sure.

What’s the battery life on the iPhone now, with say, Gmail IMAP checking every 15 minutes?

Edit: Yikes!

Since switching to Gmail IMAP (one account) from previous POP3 account, I’ve noticed a significant drainage in my battery life. Specifically, making zero calls during the day, just listening to iPod and setting email to check every 15 minutes went from battery life dropping from 90% full to only 50% full during the day - from about morning until 6pm at night. Is this my imagination? No other settings were changed. Thanks

A new battery is definitely needed…

Gmail IMAP syncing takes a long time for some reason. On my WinMo phone, I’ve noticed that battery usage has increased when I switched from Exchange Email to Gmail IMAP 15-minutes.
