Money quote

“My understanding is at this juncture they’re going to take August off, but, you know, they may change their minds,” White House press secretary Tony Snow said.
“You know, it’s 130 degrees in Baghdad in August,” he said, sympathetically.
Snow was reminded that U.S. troops will be continuing to fight throughout August in the heat.
“You know, that’s a good point,” Snow said. “And it’s 130 degrees for the Iraqi military.”

He forgot to mention that it’ll be hot for the Al Quedas too, or the Iraqi people who get about 5 hrs of electricity a day to power their fans.

Awesome

It’s not like they were getting anywhere on the make-or-break issues anyway.

Maybe some of the more obstinate legislators can take this chance to rationally and dispassionately evaluate their country’s situation and perhaps shift towards more pragmatic positions.

Or get murdered.

Translation from Tonyspeak:
There’s no accountability for anything ever so why the fuck should you care?

So how is the Iraqi government going to make the miraculous progress “by September” that Bush promised if they are taking off all of August?

Dude, they’re taking August off. They learned from the best vacationer-in-chief ever!
