Nah, this is at home through a Roku stick on Xfinity internet in Portland. But it must have been down to the stick because it improved markedly after I disconnected it from power for about 15 seconds, then plugged it back in. Even though the 5 GHz connection was still rated “poor” in the settings, despite the fact that speedtest.net on my ipod had it coming in at like 95 Mbit/s.
Before I did the reboot, the video (as shitty as it was) actually froze a couple of times, even though it’s been fine on all other nights till now.
This is a reason why I consider a VPN (with multiple geographical exit nodes) a requirement these days. Your ISP and some interconnect on the usual path to Netflix got itself fucked up and you have to live with it. So you sigh and fire up the VPN and force another route by going across the country or something.
