Yep! I’ve had people do that to me.

Explanation: In order to warp out, two things have to happen. You have to be pointed at your destination (aligned) and you have to be moving at 3/4 of your current maximum speed.

If you web a fast aligning ship, you basically give it a “go into warp free” card, if the warp drive isn’t currently disabled (i.e. ‘pointed’).

That trick is useful though for escorting freighters.

Man I hate instalock battleship undock people.
3 armageddons and a crow.

The space outside station has not even loaded, and I get scrammed, lose my assault cruiser, and then I am podded. 44 people in system, 40 friendlies. 4 enemies. and of course the first person to undock is me. And of course all the CCP guys say is “gee- should have had faster internet sucker”

How did that happen? kickout station?

pretty much I saw the “undocking” screen until I was in a pod, then there was an instalock crow.

dunno what a kickout station is

You can’t be locked in less than 30 seconds after you undock, kickout stations are the ones you are out of docking range by the time the session timer wears off and you can be shot.

Sacri used to be dismal, now it’s a tough lethal heavy assault missile boat. If you’ve got the skills, it’s got the kills.

Dave, when would you use your ECM drones solo? Purely as a defensive measure? I’m assuming you don’t fit any guns to your Pilgrim…

I am going for a pvp build, but I am only doing pve content right now. I am currently flying around in a vexor, but will be in a Dominix. I am currently working on the buffered tank build: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Vexor_(Fitting)

I really, really, really don’t like buffer tanks for PVE content. Having something sustainable and ensuring you have the right resists for the job tends to be far less of a pain.

If you’re flying something that you can guarantee will not be broken by the incoming DPS ever then life is much easier!

What do you mean by sustainable? If you mean that your tank and cap will last forever, that’s way overkill if you know what you’re doing. Change some of that out for some dps so you can earn your isk faster.

I actually like a plodding dual-LAR2 cap stable domi tank for missions, when I want to take it easy. T2 sentries still make quick work of most level 4s, and I don’t have to sweat the scrambles or anything.

Other than that, I’d say resist + LAR is better than buffer for PVE, like JM said. PVP of course is a completely different story.

I think we just had a server crash. Strange symptoms, but it appears to be the case.

Those ECM drones are my GTFO option.

I’m in a slow buffer fit ship. If I misjudge, I want the ability to get clear, and those drones can do that.

I’m kind of the same. Buffer is fine for L2’s and a good chunk of L3’s, but then I switch to either passive/active tanking with some resist tanking added to that usually.

For the tougher L3’s and above, being alive > faster isk. There is a balance, to be sure, but I would rather sacrifice DPS if it means I have less issues or more of a buffer if the OHCRAP klaxon goes off.

Sooo, faction warfare. Are there any QCats still around here that are active? And if so are they still doing FW?

For the past few months I’ve just been an Empire carebear running missions while my friends, who just joined the game, got a feel for it and trained up some skills. Now that they’re a little bit more comfortable and situated, we were looking at options. What’s the current state of FW? Is it still active, and is it possible to make any money running FW missions for LP?

Alternatively, if anyone has some other suggestions for a group of newbies to start branching out and enjoy more of the game, I’d love to hear them.

I am! FW has around 2 or 3 roams a day, almost guaranteed combat (like 10v10s). and FW missions lvl 4, you get around 50-100 mil an hour in them.

I am in a HAC, and can tank it but could always use another ship to do damage while I run like a baby. also: this is gallente FW, we usually win our fights, and the enemy usually runs.

Dunno if this has made the rounds here yet:
EVE player destroys ship (and cargo) carrying over $1200 worth of game time codes (74 PLEX licenses)

Ouch, very ouch. Also: lol.

Had to happen eventually

It’s worth pointing out that there is zero reason to ever undock with a PLEX in the first place as you can redeem them from anywhere.

Even if you live in 0.0 and for some reason don’t have an Empire jumpclone to buy it in the first place, as long as you have an empty character slot you can simply create an alt on your main account, fly it to Jita in the safety of the newb corp, transfer it the cash and then buy and redeem your PLEX without ever risking anything more vital than an empty Ibis.
