If you have a 0.0 area you reguarly frequent, make on grid BMs about 350 away from the gate and directional scan bookmarks around each gate.

That allows you to go to the scan BM hit the directional and if you see nobody in local use the on grid to be sure that there is really nothing left on the gate.

Alternately BMs 200k above and below the gate will usually keep you out of bubbles as long as most other celestials in the system are on the ecliptic. You’re close enough to be on grid with the gate at that range so can see any hostiles or bubbles and you’re far enough away to warp to the gate if it is clear.

The critical distance you want to exceed for tacticals on gates is 150k away from the gate, as that is the min. distance you can warp.

You’ll still be surprised how many people don’t want to make a 6-jump trek to make a purchase. I’m one of them, I’ll typically pay a markup if it means I don’t have to switch to my hauler, jump 5+ systems one way and then back again.

Yeah, I had looked at the amount of sales prior to setting up my buy orders. I just don’t know now if that’s for the trade hub in Verge Vendor, or if it’s for systems that are further from Dodixie and Oursulaert.

Cat is a mission hub and 5 jumps out from Oursulaert. It’s one jump from… can’t remember the name of the system, but it starts with a ‘V’ [EDIT: Villore], that typically has more stuff but depending on what you’re selling, people in Cat may pay a bit more for convenience.

Not sure if that helps at all, and this is speaking as someone who’s never traded but, as a missioner, has bought a lot off the market. :)

In game related news, I got smart this time and lined up long skills before this patch. It’s not that I don’t trust them with the small skinny-jeans-wearers patch (sorry, I mean Mac users,) but I don’t want to get burned again on lack of skills in training.

I need some game advice on raising my standing with Caldari. I’m already fairly high (around + 5 I think?), but my intention is to plop down a new corp and a POS in hisec for my alts to play with. Would COMOS missions be faster in raising that than say, grinding missions for storyline bonus missions? Or, barring that, I’ve not done FW, maybe some squid faction warfare would raise me quicker?

Combination would be good. Ironically I have just done this on the gallente side, so I can tell some general numbers.

Doing FW will be awsome for your standing , as you run missions until you are the highest rank in your navy, which is around 10 promotions, each giving more standing increase, my last one being a 16% I think. So for me it brought me from around 5ish to 8.7 (I did this after some cosmos).

Before that- I started at 2, or 2.5: and got to 6 doing cosmos missions lvl 1-3: mostly noncombat, rest in a AF.

but you being caldari, you probably get a guide in english.

highly reccomend the cosmos missions for some cash injections, and your faction warfare missions are criminally easy compared to mine. [you have to kite blasters, so I hear you can solo 4’s with a stealth bomber, while I get to deal with missiles of all sizes: so I need a well fitted HAC to tank]

I need my standing at 9.9 to get the good BPC’s, so I will probably be doing the level 4s soon, but I need to move a bunch of ships to do it.

ALSO: you should do a bit of pvp while in the FW missions, or give me all of your LP so you dont ruin the market- if youve seen the prices of Navy domis: a few people started running missions without doing FW because it is lucrative- and their price dropped from around 410m a few weeks ago to 350m! I am crying about that :P

ALSO 2: you can pay me as an escort for your missions :D we gallente tend to gank a lot of mission runners, and one of my corpmates killed over 30 stealth bombers in 4 days.

Excellent info all around. I’m glad I caught you while it was still fresh. I’ve trashed my own Gallente standing, but I worry less about that now, I do keep an eye on Minmatar though since I split time there occasionally. Raising Caldari up to a level for an alt-corp POS would be the quickest method. The news about the price crash on Navy Domi’s is surprising. Navy Raven’s haven’t dropped much that I can tell. I think I’ve seen low of 520 and high of about 600.

I’ve done neither COSMOS nor FW, this should be fun. I -may- take you up on your escort offer, but I don’t mind trying it out a bit first. After I lose a gajillion ships doing it though, I’ll be ready to talk rates. :p

COSMOS was pretty cool, although not that many buy the BPC’s, although with you being able to go to jita you can sell them better than I.

hehe- want to duel(frig or cruiser only: no pirate ships)? also I reccomend getting a printout map so you dont get confused or overwhelmed by the size of lowsec or the jumps between missions. ( when I do missions, I pick up around 12, do them all in like 2-3 hours, and make around 200 K LP)

Good god … 200K LP in 2-3 hours? No wonder FW can be lucrative. I can print out some maps but are you talking about the bound printed map that’s for sale online somewhere? Let me investigate jumping into FW tonight and if I can get a handle on it, I’ll gladly duel (aka lose my ship to you) somewhere. We can start with something cheap, I don’t mind.

Navy scorps aren’t as high priced as ravens at the hub.

EDIT: NM, answered my own question. Those are only available through FW, thus their price premium. I think I got that right. In looking in Jita though I could swear they are still well below CNR’s.

Navy scorps are the chepeast, costing 150k same as navy domis, scorps arent that high priced because mission runners dont use them that much.
