I only know of Heyd, your experience may vary in others.

Alright, I’ll keep that in mind. The system is 0.4, but I’ve already been killed there, so who knows…

0.4 isnt more safe than 0.0

Not presuming it is, especially since I was blowd up there already.

Lowsec is more dangerous than 0.0 to be honest. I’d advise against doing PI there unless you really really want to run the risk.

I’m ignoring PI completely. Y’all have fun.

Hhmmmmmm…risk isn’t something I’m always happy with, JM. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe I’ll rethink this PI in lowsec thing.

Kong, a lot of folks will hopefully ignore it, so I can have a chance. ;)

Oh, I’ll probably set up some PI (I did train the skills after all) in LowSec.

Oh god dammit, now I gotta stay outta lowsec. THANKS DAVE. ;)

Dave’s a carebear! Dave’s a carebear!

There’s no reason really to ignore PI, only takes a couple days to get all four skills up to 3. I probably won’t do much with it, but at least it’ll be there.

Yes there is. I’ve got more immediately useful stuff booked in my skill plan such as Astrometric Rangefinding V and Scrapmetal Processing V. I’ll train PI sometime in 2012. :)

I’m up and running, after figuring out a few things I was doing wrong. People are already trying to make money on the planetary command centers by selling them locally versus you just going and hauling back what you need from the nearest NPC seeded corp.

I picked something easy to do, and due to that, not very valuable: making Oxygen. I figured it’s a POS fuel, I can always sell it. It’s also a basic Processed Material, many steps easier and with less combinations than an Advanced Commodity like a Nano-Factory or Broadcast Node.

I set up two planets last night, but if I had more training, I could max out at six total. I’m doing this in highsec, because figuring this shit out while getting ganked would be a frustration nightmare. Note to pirates: people can’t see -shit- while in planetary mode. You should be able to rape newbies who come in trying to find a good planet while sitting still or powering in a straight line when they are virtually blind.

So based on what I made from about 9pm-6am, I can project that with some tuning and optimization of what I’m doing on the planet, I can make about 600-1200 oxygen in a 24 hour cycle. On one of my six total planets. Lets imagine I did that on six planets, if I spent the next 2 weeks in skill training. At today’s pre-PI pricing, the total of production on six planets would normally cost me about ( 7200 * 89 ISK ) = 640800 ISK / day. That’s about the return from 1/2 of a level 3 mission with bounties, or an even smaller fraction of a level 4 mission. It’s also a fraction of what I could make on one haul from a Hulk on the cheapest of ores.

So my summary for you, Lunch of Kong: wait. Let people sort out what’s good and what’s bad here. Right now it seems like this is the wild west and there is going to be a lot of fools gold wrapped up in the materials that come out of this. I’m sure some of this will be valuable, but I was a bit … underwhelmed at the rate of production on a planet.

I’m interested to hear other observations though. I was in highsec after all.

Do low / null sec planets have any bonuses or available materials that you don’t get in high sec?

From what i read, null sec has a 600% bonus compared to low sec.

Supposedly more resources in a greater amount, and rare planets that produce items hard to come by elsewhere in low and null sec.

I missed some info though. Apparently CCP will be dropping the NPC sell orders on a lot of these goods to push this to a player sustained market, versus an NPC sustained market. I’m assuming that will push prices up, but of course, everyone is stockpiling in the meantime. Some assorted threads talking about this:

So it looks like you can’t make much money at it … yet?

I now have a small facility in LowSec producing Toxic Metals.

I now have a small facility in low sec producing robotics. It was kinda complicated, but really neat! I wanna do it on more planets once I get the hang of it.

Always funny to watch teams with Logistics pilots that have disconnected or afk’d or something. And it is always the Logistics that does it :(

Brings back memories?
