Also, YMMV, but you can alpha an iteron V with a single BS, whereas it’s more difficult with a transport :)
Sorry i meant the mammoth, got names confused.
Lorini do you need some starter cash? I’m not sure how far along you are from previous play.
So what sorts of ships are there the fewest of? Well, the fewest of that are actually needed anyway? In MMOs I try to play classes already have low pops so long as I don’t totally hate the class.
I’ve thought of focusing on some sort of scanner-type craft/skills that I can use as a scout while soloing or to help scout for whatever group I’m in. Is this even feasible for a newbie?
Im going to guess EWar boats, especially ECM, not many people fly them and you will get the reputation of an asshole if you use it all the time :P

Awesome, but do I really want my online reputation to so closely mirror my meat-space one.
It goes so far as to someone dropping carriers on us because we had a jammer (that wasnt really with us in the first place)
Ok: I am going to try and get this system up over the next few days.
I need to get a spreadsheet and figure out how much Power/cpu i will need to pull this off, but it should be good, as I can always expand to 2 more planets nearby.(this system has maybe 4 or 5 good planets out of 10 total)

It shouldnt lose me much money if it fails, and if it works hopefully I can pull in some big bucks for doing nothing.
NO! not the spreadsheets! you bring death to all of us!
That’s the spirit, untill you have created your 1st spreadsheet, you are not playing eve properly
good luck with your ventures, SHC has a couple threads about PI with some useful info

So without looking, how many planet types is this spread across? And how often do you have to move stuff between planets?
It looks like it’s spread across 2 planets with the Industrial explosives manufactured on planet 7 and the super conductors+reactive metals being manufactured on planet 8. I wouldn’t imagine he has to move things more than once every few days once it gets going, moving up the PI chains greatly reduces the m3 amount and increases the cycle time.
Edit: I’d like to point out to anyone interested in trying this… Steam has it on sale for $2. You cannot apply that to a trial account.
Ayup! 2 planets it be! Which is why i need the complex chart.
going to get this up tonight.

You can, and you can get a free month on a main account as well.
[ul]
[li]Send yourself a buddy referral from the Eve site with your main account.[/li][li]Accept the buddy invite and create the trial account.[/li][li]Buy the Steam deal for $1.99.[/li][li]Apply that to the trial account that you got from the buddy referral.[/li][li]You now have 51 days of playtime on your new trial account and 30 free days on your main.[/li][/ul]
Note that if you aren’t interested in having an additional account long term but you could use an alt on your main account, you can transfer characters between accounts for $20 so you can make a hauling alt or a covops alt or whatever with the buddy trial then move the character to your main account so you aren’t paying for more accounts than you currently do.
That is, that is a great way to get around it. I wonder if you can do this multiple times, 3 buddy invites for 3 accounts, that’s 9 months of payments all for the low low price of $18.
But I don’t think you can apply the steam purchases to trial accounts, and thus can’t apply them to buddy invites. And even if you did, the moment you subscribe your trial playtime is removed. So if you can sub up on a buddy account on day 10, you still only have 30 days of playtime instead of 40.
Edit: Yeah won’t work, trial accounts are existing accounts
Notice: Monthly subscription fee required after first month. Product keys will not work with existing EVE Online accounts.

I’ll be amazed if you can get everything together on two planets. I screwed up my processing and I have 1 less than the max the skills allow you (can’t remember off the top of my head how many that is). I can’t use elite command centers but I can use the advanced ones, and I’m still shafted for power.
I think it’s possible he can do it, but the scale will be low for each created item. I am guessing you will have manufacturing delays somewhere in there but I don’t know which parts specifically. With just two planets you aren’t going to have enough extraction going on to get much of anything, quickly anyway. And I wonder how this will slow down the later production pieces, which are much slower than the lower tier (from what I’ve read.)
Still, this is a good test, Thorn. I’m interested in your results.
Actually he may have stuck a good planet and got good hits on all the resources he needs. It’s not impossible, especially if he’s lowsec or better w-space.

Apparently the Steam+buddy invite thing does still work. Several sources have confirmed that it works as I described above regardless of the terms on the buddy invite page.
Incredibly CCP’s game has features with incorrect documentation? Who knew?
Looks like doing it on 2 planets is not going to happen: but 3 planets I can do- depending on the speed of my extraction.

The first table is the minimum I would need per planet to get the resources I need, with 1 extractor per resource. I can get around 4 extractors per resource(Power celing) if I dont have much work on connections.
So that is the first two planets: working at a pretty good percentage- but I will probably move some Advanced Industrial Facilities to those planets, as from my earlier chart, I can put 2 per colony to save space and convert the correct materials.
My third planet will be nothing but conversion centers for the raw materials(second table).
I might be able to squeeze onto the other two planets if I really need to, which I wont because its not exactly a huge investment to grab a third planet that doesnt actually need to have any resources( ill probably have it do those base metals though)
SO: total price so far is around 15 million isk, not counting any upkeep costs or supply depots. And that is chump change- at least I hope, considering it will chug out final tier nano factories. As I get numbers in for my extractor outputs, I will do more calculations on my profits and such, but even if it fails- I can make 15 mil in less than an hour.
