My only real pain with the UI is the stupid drone bay.

I play on a laptop. Many things can’t be resized below a certain threshold but the drone bay fortunately fits in a small space. I hate the way you have to unroll it to see the drones though, I’m guessing that’s the gripe?

Drone groups. Saves a lot of space and fiddling around. Even if you only have a single flight of drones loaded at a time.

Hell, I didn’t even know you could do that. Many thanks, IainC.

Oh God, Skipper, I cannot imagine using drones without drone groups. I’m so, so sorry you’ve been slugging through it without them.

That must have been… atrocious.

It wasn’t really that bad. I’m Caldari, so I pretty much have had one group for like … ever. Dump them out, put them all on one target, boom, done. Moving 5 drones pretty much necessitates that it’s already a single group.

That being said, I’ve always wondered how the Domi pilots could stand doing missions without assigning a single target to their whole group of henchmen.

just throwing it out there in case you do not know: you can assign keyboard shortcuts to tell your drones to attack etc …
helps not having to right click and select attack when in the middle of combat

/nerd rant

your problem is your DPS or lack thereof, pure and simple, for running PvE missions. Do you at least have drone interfacing at IV (not possible) and are you currently training sentry V for the t2 sentries?

1.) my drake does more dps than your dominix.

379 DPS kinetic via EFT with my actual skills and modules (no faction), to be exact (420DPS with all level V skills). In comparison, if you’re using ONLY t1 sentry drones (all level V skills otherwise, no rigs/modules) you get 375 DPS with Garde I, vs. 450 DPS with Garde II; but having the drone skills to use the II’s and the better tracking of the II’s mean this is bigger than the 20% difference listed here.

You’re at about 60% the theoretical DPS from t1 sentry drones (240 vs 375), so you’re missing some serious drone skills somewhere; likely drone interfacing. I do 298 DPS with Garde I’s if I set Gallente Battleship V in EFT, and I fly caldari, for god’s sake!

2.) Tank vs gank.

Massive domi tank is for afk missioning, are you really afk? At least toss some small/medium t1 guns in the highs if you aren’t afk, and start shooting. EVE NPC’s have a natural repair/regen rate, so the relationship between missions running speed and DPS is non-linear.

E.g., Enemy repairs 200 armour every second, or 200DPS tank. Has 4k armour. (yes, this is overly simplistic)

a.) you do 240 DPS, net 40DPS. Takes 100 seconds to break the armour tank.

b.) I do 360 DPS (only 50% more than you), net 160DPS. Takes 25 seconds to break the armour tank. 75% faster kill speed, and since I’m under fire for less time, I can get away with less tank.

/END nerd rant

FWIW my usual L4 Domi set up was something like this (Gallente BS V, Drone Interfacing V and using Ogre II heavy drones mostly).

Highs:

[ul]
[li]5x 350mm rails (whatever will fit after you’ve attached everything else, mine were Fed Navy guns but even carbides will add a chunk to your DPS)[/li][li]Drone Link Augmentor[/li][/ul]

Mids:

[ul]
[li]100MN AB[/li][li]Medium Cap Booster II (fitted with Cap booster 800s)[/li][li]Cap Recharger II[/li][li]Sensor Booster II[/li][li]Drone Navigation Computer (swap for an Omnidirectional Tracking Link if you are using sentries instead of heavies)[/li][/ul]

Lows:

[ul]
[li]2x EANM II[/li][li]2x Faction specific hardeners (one of each for the appropriate damage types)[/li][li]DCU II[/li][li]LAR II[/li][li]MFS II[/li][/ul]
Rigs:

[ul]
[li]2x Capacitor Control Circuit[/li][li]Auxiliary nano Pump[/li][/ul]
Does 699 DPS with Ogres and 682 with Gardes, is cap stable if you leave the LAR alone (and you won’t need to cycle it all that much). If you do need to then chugging down a cap booster every so often will keep you motoring along.

If you hit something that does omni damage like mercs or rogue drones then fit thermal and kinetic hardeners and swap the MFS for an explosive hardener; your EM resistance is at ~80% even without an active hardener for it.

Keep a flight of Hammerheads and/or Hobgoblins in the drone bay to kill small stuff like elite frigates as well.

I actually knew this one, but the problem with gaming from multiple machines is that somewhere, somehow, you forget to shortcut a command. I do have them shortcut using the keyboard though for what it’s worth. I was kind of going on what you would have to do with the generic drone interface, which is pretty ass poor for drones.

People ask about domi fits regularly over on eveonline.com.

This thread from today has some decent loadouts and explains things pretty patiently for those forums…that wasn’t started by you, by any chance?

haha- no. But i can live with this DPS, once I traded out for drone augmentaiton items- so I pretty much use caldari sentries for half my missions and beat up battleships at 70KM. which makes looting a pain, but I have buddies who loot with me.

in more awsome news- I was a complete asshole in a 20v15ish dual battle, and managed to:

-bump a drake off of gate
-another drake
-drakes and me dont mix(bump x3)
-land on an interceptor with a web and scrambler
-bump cerberus off gate
-never get targeted

fun stuff, I love my MWD plate thorax.

On a lark I joined HYDRA RELOADED. Pray for my soul!

I saw them doing open recruitment in a few zones. Let us know how it turns out. Bonus, if you’re really good you can be on their next tourney team (but possibly have to take a dive.) At least if you believe the rumors.

where CCP demonstrates an amazing level of arrogance and disdain for their playerbase

Shame CCP has not realised people get so angry because they care so much about eve online and are just sad to see the core gameplay slowly turning into a huge pile of shit whilst resources are diverted to “sims in space”.

How was the devblog arrogant or disdainful? I read it earlier but it didn’t strike me as either.

The producer is stressing so many new features and expanding on how CCP is going to be the “First. Ever.” to link console with pc in Dust. There doesn’t seem to be that much emphasis on quality control issues, especially on testing the game as it is currently, which is something CCP has continuously been criticized for. It seems like Zulu is blowing all of that off and instead stressing all of the new stuff that’ll be in the future.

I’m soon going to be getting a new PC. I’m guessing there’s no install file saved on my current PC that I can transfer over to the new one. But are there some files that I can transfer over for my bookmarks, and overview settings. Or are the bookmarks saved server-side as I seem to recall. And do I have to do the export xml thing for the overview and transfer the resultant whatever? Also, is transferring EFT just a case of copying the folder? And what about EveMon? I’ve lost all that stuff once before and don’t want to lose it again.

bookmarks are server side, same as your window config, but overview and other stuff is client side.

Well, imagine the following dialogue:

Enter lots of angry players, most of whom have been playing (and financially supporting CCP) for several years with multiple accounts. The tone is surprisingly respectful and thoughtful.

> CCP, your core game is broken (sov, fleet lag, horrible interfaces, bugs all over the place). We love your game and want to continue supporting it but as things stand, it is becoming more and more difficult. Things are just flat broken. Please tell us you acknowledge the situation and are willing to do something about it.

Enters CSM minutes

> CCP does not care about your concerns, actually CCP thinks you are making stuff up (the server have never been in a better shape) and anyway they think new players are more important than retention of existing players.

CCP only cares about their next expansions (incarna, dust) which have nothing to do with the core gameplay you like and pay for but should bring in lots of new subscribers. Therefore CCP will not dedicate any material resources to fixing the existing core game for the next 18 months.

players: WTF? I know things are broken and not all is well, I experience it on a daily basis. Also, nothing against new subscribers but how about fixing the game we are paying for first?

Enters CCP Zulu (of carriers fame) and his blog

> you understand nothing and the minutes are lies (even though they were written and vetted by CCP) and you have no reasons to be angry. All is well, the game is definitely not broken and we care about you but just to confirm, we are not going to dedicate any material resources to fixing the core game, instead we’re throwing everything at incarna and dust.

#desperate players: WTF? are you even fucking listening? Do you even play your game anymore, it IS broken.

Add a good seasoning of clumsy and fairly transparent attempts to manipulate the forums by devs/GMs and the stage is set
