The Umbrellas of Cherbourg!

Horde shoots and scores! The great Jacques Demy Technicolor musical masterpiece, where I’m pretty sure every word is sung. Big influence on La La Land as well. Then of course Catherine Deneuve!

Your move, @Woolen_Horde!

We’ve made too many compromises already; too many retreats. These grandpa movies invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!

I Kill Giants?

“Grandpa Movie time” aka “Good Movie time” returns.

Yes

This 20:20 is where life had no value.

Have you seen it? What did you think?

-Tom

My wife really enjoyed it. I thought it was OK, and I wouldn’t watch it again. A little whimsical for me, but I thought the cinematography was outstanding. I enjoyed what the story was trying to do in showing the imagination dealing with trauma. it was a little too syrupy for me (maybe), if that is the word?

Saccharine is the term.

One-Eyed Jacks?

Yeah, I love the idea of these sorts of movies – children in touch with supernatural forces that may or may not be imaginary – but that saccharine quality just kills them. When a Monster Calls was the same situation. I realize they can’t all go Pan’s Labyrinth dark, but they’re too lite YA as is.

Also, the lead actress in I Kill Giants was terrible. Her little British friend, however, was awesome. They should have swapped roles.

Tonally I wanted James and the Giant Peach or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Not what it was…

IncorRiosearchesforDad!

Eight hours…no one is getting that first frame. Noble effort by @Skipper.

Here’s The Forty:

For a Few Dollars More?

I thought that, and maybe the sequel, as well. But the hat isn’t right I don’t think in the 20.

So I’ll go a different Leone

Once Upon a Time in the West

The Roger Maris (61*):

“How do you know all this?”
“I’ve got my information too.”

The 1hr21min20sec:

After the Bank Robbery.

The Two Centuries:

“What’s he doing now, this Sheriff of El Paso?”

The Beltway (202 Area Code):

Final Showdown.

“Alive or dead, it’s your choice, @anonymgeist

I thought that hat looked familiar! For my money, it’s the best of the trilogy.

I’ll have a new 20:20 up shortly.

I think I agree. Kinski too.

Damn. That was my first thought and I said to myself, “surely that’s been done, it can’t be that.” Then I thought, “surely One-Eyed Jacks has not been done.” And was wrong, on both counts.

Nice work for the score, @anonymgeist!
