The Mechanic?

Well there are two key things this frame tells you, and most of you got one

Christian Bale
Western

So while these were good guesses, the promotion goes to @anonymgeist

Have at it Captain

I have not seen Hostiles. Good?

I’ll get back to you when I finish. (I only got partway and skipped ahead to get frames)

Initial impression of 40 minutes is… potential? It gets into some really touchy subjects, so final analysis is going to rest heavily on whether it appropriatly resolves them. But it starts out with the ugly, and doesn’t shy away from it. Just don’t go expecting a movie with the leads being ‘good people’

Of course not, given the subject material. It demands complexity. PM me.

I thought it was an okay movie with a couple of fantastic performances.

The new frame will be up tonight!

Yes, but you are a Philistine with both an established disdain of film history and a anti-Western genre bias…so…grain o’ salt, Pardner. :)

Two very odd claims. I love film history and Westerns*. I just don’t like Scott Cooper movies. Dude is terrible.

-Tom

  • The Searchers is one of the seminal movie statements about this country, High Noon is the single best movie adaptation of Coriolanus, and Unforgiven is the pinnacle of Clint Eastwood’s career, including anything directed by Sergio Leone, whose movies don’t hold up very well (cf. Sam Peckinpah Westerns).

On first two points we agree but not about “The 'Pah”". :)

PS, Coriolanus comparisons are a bit of a stretch.

Okay, the new 20:20

Slow West?

Got it in one!

40:40

60:60

80:80 (it’s a short 'ne)

Thanks for this, @anonymgeist I really enjoyed that one. The general store had me stymied for a moment and then I remembered, the spoiler spoiler in there.

New 20 up in a few minutes.

Goddamn, it’s a new 20:20 Amigos!

It seems familiar…

Pat Garret and Billy the Kid?

Probably not, but I can picture that scene in my mind.

Wow, nicely done, @Navaronegun! Also, ha ha, you saw a movie starring Kodi Smit-McPhee. By the way, what was your favorite scene in Alpha?

It’s The Mountain! No, wait, The Hound. One of those two, I think? Cool dude from Game of Thrones, at any rate. That guy’s great and almost made it worth sitting all the parts of Slow West without him.

Dude representing law and order is let down by his fair-weathered friends? That doesn’t work for you? But, sure, there’s no burning barn and rampaging horses in Coriolanus. Also, you might have to subscribe to the concept that there are only 7 stories to be told, so you might as well pack High Noon in with Coriolanus. Which then means Outland and My Bodyguard are also Coriolanus, so, uh, never mind?

This one, and dude is nearly unrecognizable with a shaved face

Us Old Boys shouldn’t be doin’ this to each other, Pat…there ain’t many of us left.

"Mr Peckinpah refuses to give us a final cut, sir. He is locked in the editing room with a .45 and is hopped up on pills and whiskey. He keeps saying that if he gives us the film he’ll ‘kill the Kid’ ".

The Fortay-Fortay:
Jason Robards- These New Mexico rains are so…melancholy.

The Roger Maris (61*):

The 1hr21min20sec:
Bob Dylan cold-cocks Breed at Pat Garrett’s instruction

The Two Centuries:
Nah… I ain’t goin’.
You owe it to me.
I do? For what?
For not killing at over at rosewater, for gettin’ you this job, and not seein’ run you outta this territory, for pullin’ you outta that snow drift up at Shamus, and for cold cockin’ you over at Stillwater Saloon last fall, and savin’ you from Rabbit Owens from bitin’ off your ear, and from just puttin’ up with you for a hell of a lot longer than I oughta…
Yeah… Well I hope they spell my name right in the paper.

The quote for that 20:20 was:
I sure wish you’d try, son. I got my shotgun full of 16 thin dimes. Enough to spread you out like a crazy woman’s quilt.

Said by R.G. Armstrong as James Coburn tries to restrain him.

The best “come at me, Bro” line in any Western. Ever.

Your Draw, @CraigM

See what happens when you play 7 stories sophist games, Tom? People get hurt.
