Are you guys trying to kill Tom? :)

That looks like another quintessential noir film, with the dark edge around the frame. But which one? That guy looks like one of those character actors who could have been in all of them. So let’s just throw one out there: The Big Heat?

That’s from an old classic routinely shown on TCM called What the Heck Is That On the Floor?

-Tom

Piling on @Jason_Levine, is it The Killers?

Ministry of Fear?

Some great guesses so far, but it’s not The Killers, Ministry of Fear, What the Heck is That on the Floor (I have to try and track down this old classic), or The Big Heat.

Here’s the 40:40

Seconds?

That’s annoying. I just watched The Postman Always Rings Twice for the first time a week ago…I woulda had it at the first Twin Oaks.

I saw Garfield and and Twin Oaks and was ready to write and… @MrTibbs …beat me…like he always does. He is my 20:20 “Newman”.

Navaronegun, you are too damn good! Yes, it’s John Frankenheimer’s cult classic, Seconds, starring Rock Hudson. I love the score by Jerry Goldsmith and James Wong Howe’s black-and-white cinematography is absolutely stunning. It released the last year that the Oscars had separate award categories for both color and B&W cinematography. Pressure from the television industry, which was buying up loads of films, encouraged the cash-strapped majors to get with the times, and forgo beauty. Seconds was a great send off before it became a rare thing.

Here’s the remaining shots in order:

I think this one would’ve been the giveaway

Over to you, Navaronegun!

Thanks @MrTibbs !

Dr. Yen Lo from The Manchurian Candidate clued me in to it being Frankenheimer, which clued me into it having to be Seconds. New 20:20 coming up in 5.

New 20:20…in gorgeous color!

The Agony and the Ecstasy?

That was quick.

Yeah, I had that one in he bag for future use. I had re-viewed it recently upon realizing that it was directed by Carol Reed (who I associate with B & W, and Noir). It think it’s a snoozer…but his work in color was gorgeous.

@Jason_Levine if I am ever captured and placed in a Deathtrap by The Riddler, and need to guess the name of a boring Historical Epic in under 10 minutes, I am calling you!!! :)

It’s your show.

Heh, it had the look of a Technicolor epic and there were all those ladders and scaffold things or whatever they are, so I figured that had to be it. I’ll have something up soon.

Whoa, that’s a cool shot that makes me want to see whatever old timey grampa movie it’s from!

-Tom

Oh, @Jason_Levine

Sorry, dealing with family matters, will try to get something up soon

New 20:20
