Palm trees grow everywhere according to Hollywood, D.
Edit - you and I should do a film-mocking MST thingee.
Doesn’t help but that sure looks like an Oregon license plate to me.
Nah, that’s a five or four letter state on that plate in the 20.
Palm trees just dot the Oregon landscape however. Like weeds.
Interesting link, btw, for Hollywood continuity/realism assurance types:

Though I’d solve the palm tree issue first.

Depending on the age of the film, no. It could be gold on blue, or blue on gold if old enough.
Not 100% sure which year it switched over, but judging by the Pontiac in the background I suspect it is after.

It occurs to me that @tomchick might have decided to troll us. In which case well played

Does Tom drive a 90s era Volvo? :)
Tom strikes me as a 240 maintained for years with NPR on the radio kinda guy.
I love the sleuthing in this thread! You guys are great! However, no correct guesses yet.

Like he listened to Click and Clack on Car Talk?
The real question is do you drive a 240, Tom.
Exactly! But just for advice he wouldn’t fix it himself or do the oil change at home.

I always pictured Tom as like a VW Bus guy, maybe tried surfing but it didn’t take so gaming fit the bill while he pondered seminary subjects. Now it has like a coexist sitcker or three.
BTW, @tomchick we rib you because we love you, bud.
I drive a 2009 Honda Fit and live in the hills where I can’t get reliable reception for the NPR station. :(

That sucks. NPR podcasts only…

This American Life is pretty great for podcasts though. And, yes, that was what I was listening to on my run this morning.

Hrm. I worry it would go something like:
Nav: “Look at how Godard framed this particular shot.”
dwinn: “Remember when Linnea Quigley was impaled on deer antlers in Silent Night, Deadly Night?
…that was awesome.”
Nav: “Well they’re both using day for night…”
Oh, I’m actually flattered that you guys think I’m a Volvo 420 or VW bus kind of guy. It’s not quite what a fella would hope for – in my heart, I’m a Dodge Viper kind of guy – but it’s better than a Honda Fit.

I used to be one, but these days my heart belongs to the Tesla Model S.
I am pretty happy with my Insight though.
