Fun fact, my Grandmother, bless her heart, bought me two different Village People albums when I was really young. I used to play them and sing along to all of the songs. To this day I can belt out a few of the tunes from memory and trust me, I can get the strangest reactions to it when I do. So I have that going for me, which is nice.

Yes, that includes In The Navy.

The Forty:

Too young to be a chief so I’m guessing a young naval officer.

The original Midway?

The Sixty:

Caine Mutiny

Damn good guess.

“Here’s to you Mr. Keefer!” throws drink

Timeless, though weak acting IMO by Robert Francis and May Wynn could have dragged it down, Dmytryk’s capable direction uses Francis’ woodenness in service of the character.

Top notch performances by Tom Tully, Fred MacMurray, Jose Ferrer, Van Johnson (an underated gem in this film) and a tour de force by Bogart in his final role. Great small performances by Lee Marvin, Claude Akins and E.G. Marshall as well.

The Eighty:

The Hundred:

The One Twenty:

“When I was studying law, and Mr. Keefer here was writing his stories, and you, @Woolen_Horde, were tearing up the playing fields of dear old Princeton, who was standing guard over this fat, dumb, happy country of ours, eh?”

Be here at 9 AM Seattle. You are warned.

I was debating which one to go with…

20:20

Quiz Show, Mr. Van Doren.

I like the short focal length used in that shot but hate how much it highlights the overdone hair and makeup.

Great lighting though.

Yes, I figured this one would be easy. Robert Redford’s Quiz Show. I wanted to get this one out because Herb Stempel died earlier this year. Van Doren died last year. Both died on almost the same date, and at the same age, 93.

40:40 Turturro as Stempel

60:60 Paul Scofield as the Van Doren patriarch

80:80 Rob Morrow overacting

100:100

120:120 And back to Ralph

Even I knew that one. ;)

It’s why I told ya’ll to be here at 9 AM! You know Navaronne was.
