Yay I got one!
I didn’t like this movie all that much, but considering how few resources they had, they managed a very distinct look. The 20:20 is instantly recognizable with the old-timey TV effect, but all the frames have the movie’s unique feel.
A new 20:20 coming up soon.

Ok this feels like I should know it. Better than average odds I have seen it (at least compared to the average film chosen here!). But the first few that come to mind have been done so… hmm.
Going on hair style and color of (what appears to be) the main characters clothing, The Avenging Eagle?
I don’t see any eagles here, must be another movie.
Is that a guess or an invitation? The movie is not Come Drink With Me.

It’s an old but kinda famous Kung Fu movie.

John Woo’s Strike of Death?
Sorry, an unsuccessful attempt at a joke.
Is this the same movie as Hand of Death?
Either way, that is not the movie in the frame.

Checking for Jackie Chan in a small part and Sammo Hung in an even smaller part… yep, there they are. Interesting! Strike of Death was/is the name on my VHS copy. I’ll try to start calling it Hand of Death.
Ah, such is life.

Let’s go another 70’s era Shaw film.
Have Sword Will Travel?
God damn it, I’m 90% sure I’ve seen this film, and in the last year or two, but I’m also 90% sure that it’s not one of the ones whose names I can recall.

Similar boat, though in the last 5-10 years, not last 2. So I am gesticulating wildly in the general direction.
Could be Dragon Inn? It is Dragon Inn, also known as Dragon Gate Inn, a 1967 Taiwanese film directed by King Hu. Not to be confused with its 1992 remake New Dragon Gate Inn which was also known as Dragon Inn or the other remake Flying Swords of Dragon Gate. Or Goodbye, Dragon Inn, which is a whole nother thing.
@Ginger_Yellow came close with Come Drink with me, King Hu’s previous wuxia movie that came out a year earlier. After making Come Drink With Me, Hu left Shaw Brothers and Hong Kong to start his own production company in Taiwan, and his next two movies (Dragon Inn and A Touch of Zen) are breathtaking. In interviews with cast members, they talk about Hu’s perfectionism and attention to detail in ways that remind me of how people describe Stanley Kubrick, and that dedication comes through on screen.
It might be unfortunate that none of the frames are in the middle of one the beautiful and kinetic fight scenes, but Dragon Inn doesn’t rush anything, and can make long scenes of characters sitting and talking as tense as any sword fight.

I was kinda hoping to reach this frame before someone identified the movie, because not only is it a good view of the titular inn, but I think that sign literally says “Dragon Inn”, and I’m curious if anyone would have been able to read it and go “Duh, there’s your answer right there”.
80:80 takes us back inside:
100:100 shows us the the End Boss, or at least the back of his head:
You’re up next, @charmtrap.
Heh, I almost guessed Touch of Zen just to say something, though I didn’t think it was that. I think I have seen Dragon Inn, but as you suggest New Dragon Gate Inn is blocking it in my memory
