Judas and the Black Messiah?
Oooh, we made it through to the 40, eh? Good guesses, but not quite right.

That police sign with the single blue light makes me think the movie is set in tbe '70s, but beyond that I’ve got nothing.

I took that same observation from the 20 with his track suit jacket, the type of turtleneck he is wearing and the nearby lampshade. The setting just kind of looks 70s.

Hmm this strikes me late 60’s early 70’s as well.
How about Trial of the Chicago 7?
I’ll throw in Kathryn Beegalow’s Detroit.
matttutor’s got it!
It is indeed “episode one” of Steve McQueen’s film series Small Axe. I have heard some debate about whether Small Axe was a tv series or whether they’re movies, and it’s obvious to me that they’re movies. And Mangrove is a pretty great movie. If you haven’t seen it, I recommend it, especially if (like me) you’re a sucker for courtroom movies.

@matttutor? Crooked as a damn ram’s horn, that’s what he is.
Yeah me! Have not made it through all of Small Axe yet, but Mangrove and Lovers Rock were both great!
A new 20:20 emerges:
Indeed, De Palma’s debacle?/unsung fun-filled musical romp? Yes, that is Paul Williams under the pile in the 20.
The 40 - The musical genius roams his “palace”
The 60: One of the stars of the climactic chaotic performances.
The 80: And the crowd goes wild!
@dwinn Good job!

I was going to guess Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula based on the possibility that it could have been Keanu under all those ladies.

I thought for sure it would end up being a 60s spy flick, something like the duo of Flint movies (Our Man Flint / In Like Flint.)
For Paul Williams to be under that pile that kind of cements late 60s-early 70s into everything good and bad at once.
I know it’s not that movie, but all I could think of was Richard Dreyfuss,

I did not expect a Goodbye Girl quote in this thread.
As for the 20:20, that’s from the movie Greta and Her Unmentionables.
