Yeah, looking more and more like at least 3 of those top 4, maybe all 4, will be those left standing. With Harris pretty much able to write her own ticket as the VP of choice–I’m guessing all 4 of them will be courting her.
I fear that, as with Trump in last election’s clown show, the not-Biden vote will split. From what I can see on Facebook, Warren’s supporters are as fanatic as Bernie’s last time. I can’t see them moving off that position. (FWIW, I like Warren a lot and would be happy to have her as President. I just happen to think that Buttigieg’s tone is what our country needs as a opposing reaction to the Trump years.)
Anyway, maybe things will shake out but, without voting my I have to throw my vote to whoever has the most support after Biden and Bernie.
Well said! I think I agree.
This is an interesting find by NBC. I wonder why Pete doesn’t talk about it, I assume cause it would hurt in the general??
Holy cow Bernie is sinking. Go-go Pete and Liz!
Yeah I feel like the best outcome is for Bernie to be cannibalized by Liz, bow out, and point the rest of his supporters in her direction. The two have a lot of shared appeal, but Bernie is too old and has too many negatives from 2016, so it would be best to pass the torch on.
This will only work for 12 more days but maybe Liz can work in “Bernie is old news, it’s time for the 69… year old!”
I’ll be putting my resume out to those political PR houses tomorrow, but that one’s for free.
Maybe because it would hurt him in the general. Focusing on certain issues intrinsically helps Dems, focusing on other issues intrinsically helps Repubs. It would not surprise me at all if he felt that immigration was the latter. (It is a complicated question, not a matter of a simple poll on the question. Lots of voters are certain to vote, and to cast that vote for a particular party, so they are irrelevant to the sort of poll required to answer this.question.)
But even more, it looks to me as though Buttigieg is running to change systematic things, and that he sees that as a president’s role. This successful program involved maneuvering within the existing system, which is a mayor’s role.

Trigger can maybe give insight into whether this poll is worth anything, but it matches my personal views at least.
(Reuters) - In a sign that a presidential hopeful’s sexual orientation has diminished as a concern for voters, Americans are more likely to say they would reject a candidate older than 70 than a candidate who is gay, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll on Monday.
What’s particularly interesting is that the CNN/DMR poll also does name recognition, and based upon that, there’s ample room for Warren and Mayor Pete to move WAY up. And there’s less room for Bernie and Biden to do the same. Both the old guys have a ton of name recognition, and this is where they’re at. Warren and Buttigieg are much further down on name rec, but their favorables are strong enough that they’re putting up those kind of polling numbers.
Well, being an old guy, I get to say it.
When you are very old, even if you seem okay today, mental deterioration is a definite possibility over the next 4-8 years. Not a sure thing, but certainly not a small risk, either.
Of course I will vote for Biden if that is who the Democrats select to run against Dump. But that doesn’t mean I think picking him or anyone else over the age of 70 is a wise move.
Ugh
David Simon expresses my feelings exactly
Yup, the GOP will walk all over Uncle Joe. And he’ll volunteer to let them do it. He still thinks the Republicans are playing the game like good sports, something they stopped doing decades ago.
And it’s not the first time. Fuck that whole shit. Sorry, Joe, not sorry.
I will knock on doors against a motherfucker between this and the anti-weed shit. It’s 2019, not 1970.

Was Biden in a coma during his eight years in the previous administration?

Biden 2020: At Least He’s Not Trump.
Not the most inspiring slogan, but I’ll still show up.

Yes, but as @inactive_user I will fucking work to ensure he isn’t the nominee.
That dude is straight up telling us that when Republicans piss on him he will call it rain.
I think it’s more instructive to disconnect Biden the Candidate and think of him as reflecting a certain time and place and gestalt and understand that this is how a whole lot of old people think. This is why the Democrats have heretofore not really known what to do against the rise of the the Party of Infotainment and decade long grudges to settle.

I’m no fan of Biden, but he’s got the correct message.
It’s not about actually thinking that the GOP leadership is going to come around.
It’s about peeling off moderate republican voters, many of whom DO in fact know that Trump’s wrong.
This kind of message is far more likely to get those guys to peel off, than an attack on them ever will. The best way to get folks to abandon a bad road, is to extend your hand to them.

This is contingent upon how far down the bad road they’ve gone IMO. There are points beyond which extending the hand only results in a bloody amputation.
To me, where I draw the line is, I’m open to the possibility that GOP voters/politicians can turn away from the bad road, but I have absolutely no expectation of that. And my issue with Biden is that he is expecting things that the last 40 years of history should have taught him are just not going to happen. His expectations are way off.
It’s healthy to be open to bipartisanship (I view Buttigieg as an example of this) while not relying on it, expecting it, etc. Biden I view as Charlie Brown with his football.
