I did make an egregious error in my in-head math and should have typed $30k instead of $20k. That said, your averages obscure two tier college programs like CA has. Average in-state tuition might be $10k here, but Cal State tuition is about $7k/yr for an undergraduate degree at any of the CSU sites, while UCal averages about double that.

Sure, if you give those people money and they are then willing to pay more for college, then you will have increased demand.
I’m not sure how true this is. There are a lot of trade jobs available, they pay well, and they’re often things which can’t be easily outsourced. I’m honestly not sure what the overall job market looks like, but I do know that the vocational schools in the local area have very high job placement rates for their graduates.
A big problem, I think, is that for decades we basically told kids, “Only dumb kids don’t go to college, and if you don’t go, you’re going to be poor forever.” But that’s not really true.

I guess that’s another prong in this effort. Besides top-tier Wall Street banks and law firms, pretty much nobody cares where you graduated from. But private colleges have done an amazing job of making it seem like they do, and that paying $60k/year for your degree is worth way more than going to an in-state college and paying $7-10k.
Woah now, don’t be dissing my minivan. Not until you experience the difference getting kids into car seats in that versus any sedan.

I have three, I am aware.
Fine, a carve out for minivan drivers. They’re not noticeably worse than sedans.
SUVs and trucks however? Strong strong correlation.
Well, how come inexpensive college education is possible I’m Europe? Do they have a demand issue their?
I think, like a lot of folks who made this error, they saw Trump as a guy they could incorporate into existing Republican/Conservative mores, a puppet whose strings they could pull.
They’ve discovered otherwise. The stuff he gives them isn’t nearly worth the trouble and difficulty it’s worth. It likely very much feels like throwing money down a well.
Could also be trying to avoid revenge if the Dems win big in 2020. Dems with majorities in a lot of places will be looking for places they all agree on, and getting revenge on Trump’s backers will be one of those places.

Too late, the Mercers deserve to be first against the wall. Not just for Trumpism either, Breitbart too.
They tax rich people and use the revenue to fund education. That’s part of Warren’s plan, but doesn’t address the people who’ve already mortgaged their lives to pay for education.
I guess I get that the idea of loan forgiveness is divisive, but I’m really not hearing any alternatives to deal with this problem:
Anything can happen, but I’ll be very surprised if Biden doesn’t nab the nomination.
Also think Stacey Abrams will be his running-mate. Calling it now!
Literally every fellow Democrat I talk to here (admittedly not a lot as my social circle isn’t large) always says electability is number 1 for them. So these polls showing Biden in the lead are self fulfilling.
WKHE’s take seemed pretty good: if Biden doesn’t get knocked out before Florida, Florida could make him tough to beat afterwards.
If Biden is losing in the races/polls leading up to Florida, Florida will drop Biden.
Not necessarily. Depends on the degree of the loss. And Florida’s primary happens after Super Tuesday. There are a lot of states that look great for Biden – Alabama, Mississippi, Ohio, among others – that do primaries between NH and Florida.
Florida is very old and has a significantly large African American population. Those are two constituencies who love Grampy Joe a lot. If he’s even in the top two at that point (and it seems like he has a decent shot at that), he may get enough support out of Florida to keep all but maybe one other candidate from hitting the 15% threshold to gain delegates.
UGHHHHHHHH
Please no. Please be wrong my man.
I just can’t see Joe losing all this momentum over the next nine months. Those of you who are “worried” about this should start accepting it. The country seems to want a stable old white man to replace the crazy one.
No way if accepting it means to stop campaigning for people who are much better candidates.
I can. Polls mean nothing until the attacks are in full swing. Maybe the Dems will play nice, but Trump (and the trolls, domestic and international) will be in full attack mode for over a year.
Warren and Inslee are my current preferences, but I can’t gun hard for the “Stop Biden” movement. A Biden presidency would be a billion times better than what we have, and his being elderly can be counteracted with a strong running mate.
More to the point, re: climate he gets it as much as anyone south of Inslee.
It’s not good enough, but almost no one’s is.
He’s not my man, but I just can’t get super upset about his lead.
